Takedown), specific details on Grand Prix events (e.g. what tracks you race on for each race). Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been very busy lately and have only had enough time to make a start on the Signature Takedowns section in addition to a couple of other minor changes. The next update will probably be the first full version of the FAQ, with a full complete guide. Someone has given me permission to use a Vehicles guide that they are working on, so I will be waiting for that in addition to making the other changes to the guide for my next update. ============================================================================== 2. Introduction ============================================================================== This is an FAQ/Walkthrough for Burnout Revenge - if you're not familiar with the Burnout games, it has a slightly different concept to most racers - instead of simply trying to win every race you're in, you also have to try and cause as much damage as possible to your opponents, to earn 'boost' and increase the speed of your car. There are also many different game modes in addition to basic races, all of which will be explained later in the FAQ. If you wish to contact me about the FAQ, please email me at joefinnigan[at]gmail[dot]com. Preferably make the subject title of the email relevant to the FAQ, so that I know that the email is definitely related to it. Any comments on the FAQ, good or bad (although preferably constructive), would be welcomed as well. This is only my second FAQ/Walkthrough, so I'm still learning ;) ============================================================================== 3. Game Controls ============================================================================== Here are the game controls for the Playstation 2 version: X - Accelerate Square - Brake/Reverse Triangle - Change camera view Left analogue stick - Steer R1 - Boost/Impact Time (when holding) R2 - Crashbreaker L1 - Look behind L2 - Go to next song Start - Pause The Xbox version controls will appear soon. ============================================================================== 5. Game Modes ============================================================================== In this section, the different modes of the game are explained. Throughout the World Tour mode, you will have to take part in a variety of different races - all of these are listed below: RACE: Self-explanatory really - you are put into a race with 5 other computer opponents. The amount of laps each race takes can range from 1 to 3 laps. ROAD RAGE: If you played the Road Rage mode in Burnout 3: Takedown, you'll be familiar to this mode, but it has been changed slightly for this game. As usual, you have to try and get Takedowns on many groups of cars that roam across the track, but you have a much shorter time limit this time (one minute), and that time gets extended after you've got Takedowns on a certain amount of cars - I believe it is every 3 cars, or when you reach the boundary for a particular medal. CRASH: Again, this is a mode borrowed from the previous Burnout game, but there have been some changes made to it. The multiplier, cash bonus, heartbreaker and crashbreaker icons have been completely removed from Crash mode, and you now have a golf-style meter which you use to get as good a start as possible. Once you have crashed into the oncoming traffic, you have to hit as many cars as possible before your crashbreaker percentage reaches 100%; when this happens, the percentage will start dropping back down, and you have five seconds to tap R2 as fast as possible to get it back up to 100%. The higher the percentage, the more impact your car causes by exploding from the crashbreaker. You can also go into 'impact time' by holding R1; this slows down the game, enabling you to move your car around during the crash. TRAFFIC ATTACK: This is a brand new mode to Burnout Revenge, and gets you to take advantage of one of the biggest changes to the Burnout series; you can now hit same-way traffic without actually crashing, as you did in all of the previous Burnout games. In this particular game mode, you simply have to hit as much same-way traffic as possible to reach your medal targets. However, you cannot hit large traffic e.g. lorries or buses, not matter what direction it is going in. PREVIEW LAP/BURNING LAP: This is basically two of the same thing - for Burning Laps, you have to race a lap of a certain track, usually with a specific car, and try and beat certain times to get a medal. Preview Lap is pretty much the same thing, except that in these, you race on tracks that aren't made available to you until later in the game. ELIMINATOR: Another mode that was in previous games but has been slightly revamped this time. Rather than the last car being eliminated every lap, like in Burnout 3, the last-placed car gets eliminated every thirty seconds, which makes the race a lot more frantic as you face finishing last with a couple of seconds left. Apart from this, it is pretty much the same as a normal race. GRAND PRIX: This mode is a set of (usually) 3 races, where you try to get as many points as possible overall. You get 6 points for finishing first in a race, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth, 1 for fifth and none for finishing sixth. If you finish in the top 3 of the overall standings, you get a medal. CRASHBREAKER: These events can be Races, Road Rages or Eliminators. They are the same as the normal event, except that when you crash during the race, you are able to use a crashbreaker to destroy any of your opponents that are nearby. ============================================================================== 6. World Tour Mode ============================================================================== If you're familiar with the Burnout series, you'll know this mode - this is basically the main part of the game, and unfortunately, with no single-player mode now outside of the World Tour, it's pretty much the only part of the game if you're not playing online or with friends. It's still a fun mode though, and it now has a new rank system which replaces the 'continent' system that was in Burnout 3. You can gain a maximum of five stars from each event. You get two ratings overall: an 'aggression' rating, which rates how well you did in races in terms of things like Takedowns, amount of drift you did, amount of air etc; and an overall rating, which combines your aggression/race rating with the medal you got for that event. Here are the 'labels' for each star rating: * (OK) ** (Good) *** (Great) **** (Awesome) ***** (Perfect) For your race rating, you can only get an 'awesome' rating e.g. 4 stars. The only way you can get a 'perfect' rating is by getting a gold medal in an event while also getting an 'awesome' rating - this bumps your 4 star rating up to 5 stars. This also works for other ratings and medals - getting a silver medal won't move your race rating at all, while getting a bronze medal will remove one star from your overall rating. You cannot get any stars if you do not get a medal in the event. Once you have got a star rating, whether it's one star or five, those stars are deducted from your overall target for reaching the next rank. So for example, at the start of the game, it might take you 15 stars overall to unlock the events in Rank 2 - if you got an 'awesome' race rating and a gold medal in one events, this would give you a 'perfect' five star rating overall, and those five stars would be deducted from your overall target. You would then have to get 10 more stars to unlock the Rank 2 events. More information on the ranks, such as the different names and how many stars you need to unlock them, is in the 'Ranks' section. ============================================================================== 6.1 Walkthrough ============================================================================== NOTE: When you start the game, you may be given secret cars right at the start, depending on whether you have game saves for the following games: Burnout 3: Takedown - you get a Dominator Assassin at the start of the game. This is used for Crash events, and has a level 6 Crashbreaker - this will be very helpful for your early Crash events, as all of the other available cars for Crash events at the start only have a level 1 Crashbreaker. Madden NFL 06 - you get the Madden Van at the start of the game. Any information on this vehicle would be appreciated (e.g. how fast it is, what events it's used for etc) as I do not have Madden. You can obviously attempt the events in each rank in any order, but I will write information on each area's events roughly in the order that they become unlocked, going from left to right in the list of areas for each rank level, if that makes sense. ============================================================================== 6.1.1 Rank 1 ============================================================================== This is where you'll start the game then - for now, you'll only have a couple of events unlocked, and all of the rank levels apart from Rank 1 will be locked. Sunshine Keys ============= ---------------------------- Traffic Attack (Forwards) Gold: $500,000 Silver: $150,000 Bronze: $50,000 ---------------------------- You will be given 45 seconds at the start of this event, which will make the event a lot easier for you to complete. You will have two cars to choose from - the Factory M-Type ST and the Factory R160 ST. Both cars have the same speed and weight, so just choose whichever one you want, as it shouldn't make much difference. This will be the first time you will have attempted the Traffic Attack mode, but luckily, it's also one of the more simple events in the game, so it's fairly easy to get a gold medal on your first attempt. Just stick to the right hand side of the road, hitting any same-way traffic you find, and you should be able to reach the target of $500k comfortably. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Burning Lap event in Sunshine Keys - Race event in Motor City ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Forwards) Gold: 1:35:000 Silver: 1:49:000 Bronze: 2:15:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (Sunshine Keys)] You will use the Tuned R180 ST car for this race. It's a fairly difficult event to complete considering it's one of the earlier ones in the game - while it is relatively simple to get a medal, it is much more difficult to get a gold medal. Even if you don't crash at all during the lap, you will still need to use shortcuts whenever you see them and use Boost as much as possible. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Road Rage event in Motor City ---------------------------- Race (Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Preview event (Angel Valley)] This race is one lap long, and isn't too long or difficult. Try not to crash and if you do, try and get Aftertouch Takedowns on any of your opponents. Also try using any shortcuts you see, although be careful as some of these are risky, and might cause you to crash if you make a wrong turn at some point. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Grand Prix event in Motor City Motor City ========== ---------------------------- Crash (Dock Fight) Gold: $9,000,000 Silver: $6,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- This is the first Crash event, and as I mentioned at the start of this section, it will help you a lot if you have a Burnout 3 save, and the Dominator Assassin car is available to you. Although it probably is still possible to get gold with the other cars, the level 6 crashbreaker of the Dominator Assassin is very helpful in the early Crash events, as you don't get any better vehicles until later on. For this particular Crash event, get a good start then crash into the back of the stationary car just before you head into the main road and the rest of the traffic. After this, use impact time to try and steer your car towards the rest of the traffic. If the car you hit originally has also moved into one side of the traffic, try moving your own car onto the other side - this will stop more cars from getting through, and you will therefore cause more damage when using your Crashbreaker. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Motor City (Deconstruction Site) ---------------------------- Crash (Deconstruction Site) Gold: $3,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Dock Fight'] As soon as you start off in this event, go straight up the ramp that is right in front of you. As with the previous Crash event, try to block the traffic going in both directions, so that your Crashbreaker fills up quicker and you cause more damage overall. Again, it makes it extemely easier for yourself if you have the Dominator Assassin available to you. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Compact C180 Lite - Crash event in Motor City (Cars Attacks) ---------------------------- Crash (Cars Attacks) Gold: $7,000,000 Silver: $4,000,000 Bronze: $2,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Deconstruction Site'] Hit the same-way traffic, making sure not to crash, before crashing into an oncoming car on the other side of the road just before reaching the curve in the road. All Crash events follow a similar technique really - block as much traffic as possible - and that definitely applies in this event as well. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Angel Valley (Hollywood Spills) ---------------------------- Race (Short Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (Sunshine Keys)] This race is two laps long, and isn't too difficult. Just use the normal strategy of trying not to crash too much, and getting good drift/air and Takedowns to earn more boost. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Modified M-Type ST ---------------------------- Road Rage (Short Forwards) Gold: 7 Takedowns Silver: 4 Takedowns Bronze: 2 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Burning Lap event (Sunshine Keys)] By now, you should have unlocked the Modified M-Type ST - this car is faster than both of the other available cars used for racing events, so it would be a good idea to start using this car until you get even faster ones. This is the first Road Rage event, and it's one of the easier ones - you start with 60 seconds, and your time gets extended every time you get enough Takedowns to reach one of the targets for a medal. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Preview event in Angel Valley ---------------------------- Grand Prix 1 Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Race event (Sunshine Keys)] In this event, you have three different races to take part in, and you have to score as many points as possible before the end of it. All three races are done on tracks you've raced on in previous events, so if you did well enough in those events, you should do fine in this Grand Prix event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Modified A165 ST Angel Valley ============ ---------------------------- Crash (Hollywood Spills) Gold: $6,000,000 Silver: $4,000,000 Bronze: $2,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Cars Attacks'] At the start of this event, hit the small same-way traffic right in front of you (just so that you can fill up your crashbreaker meter a bit more), then take the narrow path on the right hand side, and AVOID the ramp. I actually found this event much easier by avoiding the ramp, going down the road past the ramp and just crashing into the traffic on the main road there. It is possible to use the ramp and still cause a lot of damage, but I found that a lot of the time, I just crashed into the wall below the traffic, and was unable to actually cause any damage to the traffic on the main road. Using the ramp will get you a better rating because of the amount of time in the air you use, but driving straight past the ramp and into the traffic on the ground is more likely to cause more damage to the traffic on the main road. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Lone Peak (Off The Beaten Truck) ---------------------------- Preview Gold: 1:40:000 Silver: 2:05:000 Bronze: 2:50:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Rage event (Motor City)] In this event, you have to use the Modified R185 DX vehicle. This track isn't too difficult once you've got the hang of it - just use all the usual techniques (use any shortcuts you find, hit same-way traffic etc) and you should manage to get the gold medal sooner or later. This is slightly easier the Burning Lap event in Sunshine Keys in my opinion. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Race event in Sunshine Keys Lone Peak ========= ---------------------------- Crash (Off The Beaten Truck) Gold: $2,500,000 Silver: $1,500,000 Bronze: $750,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Hollywood Spills'] You have to use a specific vehicle for this race (4x4 C180 Super) which you unlock after getting a medal in this event. It has a level 7 Crashbreaker, and along with the fairly low damage amounts for getting a medal, it makes this Crash event quite easy. Just hit the same way traffic, then hit the big ramp and land on the traffic on the other road you reach. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - 4x4 C180 Super ============================================================================== 6.1.2 Rank 2 ============================================================================== Eternal City ============ ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Long Forwards) Gold: 1:52:000 Silver: 2:06:000 Bronze: 2:32:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by default once you have reached Rank 2] You have to use the Works R170 ST vehicle for this event. There's nothing about this event that is really different to the other Burning Lap events that you would have attempted earlier on, although obviously this event is on a different track. You should know how to earn boost quickly and easily by now though, and once you've figured out the main shortcuts of this track, you should be able to get a medal with ease. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Race event in Eternal City ---------------------------- Race (Long Forwards) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Burning Lap event (Eternal City)] This race is one lap long, and there's nothing too difficult about it. Just pay attention to any shortcuts and any opportunities of Takedowns and earning boost if you're having any trouble. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Custom R170 ST - Road Rage event in Eternal City - Crashbreaker Race event in White Mountain ---------------------------- Road Rage (Long Reverse) Gold: 7 Takedowns Silver: 4 Takedowns Bronze: 2 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Race event (Eternal City)] If you didn't have any problems with the Road Rage event in Rank 1, you shouldn't have any trouble with this event either; it has the exact same requirements for getting different medals as it does in the Rank 1 Road Rage event. The Custom R170 ST car that you unlocked in the previous event is the fastest car you have, so I recommend using that for this event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Works M-Type ST - Eliminator event in White Mountain ---------------------------- Crash (Road To Ruins) Gold: $2,500,000 Silver: $1,500,000 Bronze: $600,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Swiss Roll'] Now that you have a vehicle which is both faster and has a stronger Crashbreaker than the Dominator Assassin (which you wouldn't have used anyway if you did not have a Burnout 3 save), the 4x4 C180 Super vehicle, I would recommend using this vehicle for Crash events instead of the Dominator Assassin. In this particular event, just hit the same-way traffic that is in front of you, and then drive into the main traffic. This is another fairly basic Crash event, although that doesn't necessarily make it easier. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Saloon C175 Mid - Crash event in White Mountain (Dangerous Swerves) ---------------------------- Race (Long Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Eliminator event (White Mountain)] There's nothing about this race that makes it any more challenging to the previous race events you would have taken part in, and now you have a faster car (Custom R170 ST) compared to the car(s) you used in other race events, so this shouldn't be a problem at all. It's one lap long, so it shouldn't take you too long to complete. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Works R170 ST - Preview event in Central Route ---------------------------- Crash (Circle of Strife) Gold: $3,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Crispy Fried Truck'] For this event, you are forced to use the Compact C185 Super vehicle, which becomes unlocked once you win a medal in this event. Just drive through the road, past any vehicles you see without hitting them, and go off the ramp. You can then either aim for a certain group of cars located somewhere in the 'circle', or you can just aim for the centre, slam into the cars that are inside the small circular area and then use impact time to send your car back out in an attempt to block any traffic that passes through. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Compact C185 Super White Mountain ============== ---------------------------- Crash (Swiss Roll) Gold: $3,000,000 Silver: $1,500,000 Bronze: $650,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 2] As with the 'Road To Ruins' Crash event, I recommend using the 4x4 C180 Super vehicle - however, while it does have a strong Crashbreaker and is fairly fast, it is also a bit difficult to control, especially when you have to make a slight left turn to get to the main part of the traffic in this event. Try and hit the same-way traffic near the start if you can, although it doesn't matter that much if you miss it - once you've gone past, just hit the side of a large lorry that you should see close to the end of the road, and try and move over to the other side of the road using impact time so that more traffic is blocked. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Eternal City (Road To Ruins) ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Reverse) Gold: 2:21:000 Silver: 2:35:000 Bronze: 3:00:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 2] The Prototype R175 ST vehicle is used for this event, which is a fairly fast car, and definitely helps you for this event. This is one of the easier burning/preview lap events, and as long as you don't crash, you should be able to get a medal comfortably. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Crashbreaker Race (Preview) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Race event (Eternal City)] As mentioned in the Game Modes section, a Crashbreaker Race is the same as a normal race, except that when you crash, you are able to use Crashbreakers while in impact time. In fact, I don't really understand why they didn't just let you use Crashbreakers for all races rather than make it a completely separate game mode, but anyway...this race is one lap long, and shouldn't be too difficult provided that you stick to what you've learned in previous race events. You probably won't even need to use your Crashbreaker to get a gold medal in this event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Crash (Dangerous Swerves) Gold: $7,500,000 Silver: $5,000,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Road To Ruins'] For this event, just drive through the road (without hitting same-way traffic) and hit the first oncoming car you see, before using impact time to steer your car towards the other side of the road. You'll need to cause a lot of damage in this Crash event to get a gold medal, but it is accomplishable. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Central Route (Crispy Fried Truck) ---------------------------- Eliminator (Forwards) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Rage event (Eternal City)] This is done on the same track as the crashbreaker preview race; if you did well in that race, you'll have no problem with this either. Just make sure you don't crash too much or you'll be pushed to the back of the pack, and you'll always only have a maximum of 30 seconds to recover and move up at least one place. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Race event in Eternal City ---------------------------- Grand Prix 2 Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Preview event (Central Route)] As with the first Grand Prix in the Rank 1 events, there are three races, all of which you will be at least partly familiar with from your previous events in Rank 2. You must have done well enough in the previous events to unlock the Grand Prix, so it shouldn't be too difficult to achieve gold in this event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Custom M-Type ST Central Route ============= ---------------------------- Preview Gold: 0:55:000 Silver: 1:15:000 Bronze: 1:35:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Race event (Eternal City)] You have to use the EA Racer GT for this event - this is one of the fastest cars in the game, and definitely the fastest vehicle you would have used at this point in World Tour. This event is also very short, so overall it is fairly simple - however, the chances of crashing are greater because of the faster speed of your car. Avoid crashing at all, however, and you should be able to get the gold medal. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Grand Prix event in White Mountain ---------------------------- Crash (Crispy Fried Truck) Gold: $4,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Dangerous Swerves'] This is a fairly challenging Crash event, as it is difficult just to manage to hit the ramp to fly into the traffic. As you start, drive straight forward and off the platform that your car is on, but make sure that you move slightly to the right - there is a pole that you might hit if you stay too close to the left. Once you've got past this area, just drive through a short, narrow path before hitting the ramp and flying into the traffic on the left. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Eternal City (Circle of Strife) ============================================================================== 6.1.3 Rank 3 ============================================================================== Central Route ============= ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Long Forwards) Gold: 1:11:000 Silver: 1:26:000 Bronze: 1:50:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 3] The Limited R190 DX vehicle is used for this event. It's a fairly fast car, and this combined with the fairly quick lap that you have to complete means that this is fairly easy - compared to some of the other Burning Lap events at least. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Traffic Attack event in Central Route - Race event in Eastern Bay ---------------------------- Crash (Prawn Smackers) Gold: $5,500,000 Silver: $3,500,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 3] Try and use traffic checking to hit the car directly in front of you and aim it towards the bus, then just hit an oncoming car on the other site of the road. Once you've got a Crashbreaker, use it, then try to use impact time to steer your vehicle left towards the other road slightly below the main one. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Eastern Bay (Intersection Dissection) ---------------------------- Traffic Attack (Long Forwards) Gold: $400,000 Silver: $150,000 Bronze: $75,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in Burning Lap event (Central Route)] Another simple event, this is just as easy as the previous Traffic Attack events. Just stay on the right side of the traffic and hit as much same-way traffic as you can, and you should make the gold medal target with ease. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Prototype R175 ST - Eliminator event in Eastern Bay ---------------------------- Crash (Tram-A-Tised) Gold: $8,500,000 Silver: $5,500,000 Bronze: $2,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in 'Intersection Dissection'] The fairly high damage costs that you have to make to get a medal in this event makes it slightly more challenging. Avoid the first main road, then hit the small car you see into the lorry on the left of the narrow road. Finally, just hit the ramp that is in front of you and hit as much traffic as you can. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Off Road C170 Mid - Crash event in Eastern Bay (Smashed In Translation) ---------------------------- Race (Long Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in Eliminator event (Eastern Bay)] As long as you're fast and careful not to crash at the same time, this event is relatively simple. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Limited R175 ST - Preview event in Lone Peak ---------------------------- Crash (Street Car Set On Fire) Gold: $4,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in 'Smashed In Translation'] You have to use the Mobile Diner for this event, and you will unlock it once you have got a medal in the event. This is a very useful vehicle for Crash events, as it has a level 10 Crashbreaker - the only problem is that it is very hard to control the car properly. However, it can be useful for getting gold medals in any previous Crash events where you haven't been able to get better than silver or bronze in the past. For this particular event, just hit one small car before hitting each of the two ramps (making such not to crash during any of this), so that more cars get damaged, and then once you've hit the second ramp, drive straight into a lorry. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Mobile Diner Eastern Bay =========== ---------------------------- Road Rage (Lower Link Forwards) Gold: 10 Takedowns Silver: 4 Takedowns Bronze: 2 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 3] This is a bit more challenging than any of the previous Road Rage events, as you have to get a few more Takedowns this time to get gold, but it still isn't incredibly difficult. You should have better/faster cars now as well, so the time limit shouldn't be too much of a problem either. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Lower Link Forwards) Gold: 1:25:000 Silver: 1:39:000 Bronze: 2:05:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 3] You have to use the Custom R185 DX car for this event - it's a fairly decent car so as long as you don't crash too much and take all the necessary shortcuts, you should be fine. This is also exactly the same track as the one you would have raced on for the previous Road Rage event, so you should be used to the track. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Race (Long Forwards) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in Burning Lap event (Central Route)] Fairly difficult track as there are some areas where you can easily crash, but again, you have faster cars than you had at the beginning of the game, so that makes it a little easier. Of course though, your rivals' cars are also getting faster with every rank, so you'll still need to use boost as much as possible in addition to taking shortcuts. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Crash (Intersection Dissection) Gold: $6,000,000 Silver: $3,000,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in 'Prawn Smackers'] Steer through the lorries and buses without hitting them, before you see a smaller car - crash into that car on its left hand side, so that it moves towards the oncoming traffic, then hit one of the buses or lorries on the right side of the road. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Central Route (Tram-A-Tised) ---------------------------- Eliminator (Long Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in Traffic Attack event (Central Route)] This event is very similar to the Race event in Eastern Bay - it is a fairly risky track, with several areas where you could crash if you're not careful. However, be careful on these parts of the track and you should manage to win. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Prototype M-Series ST - Race event in Central Route ---------------------------- Crash (Smashed in Translation) Gold: $4,500,000 Silver: $2,500,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in 'Tram-A-Tised'] Traffic check the first few cars, then hit the lorry as soon as you see it. The main aim for this event, as with most Crash events, is to block as many cars as possible on both sides of the road, so quickly move over to the other side of the road if oncoming cars are not being blocked. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Central Route (Street Car Set On Fire) ---------------------------- Grand Prix 3 Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in Preview event (Lone Peak)] You should know the drill by now. This is again made up of 3 races, all of which you will have raced in in the other events in Rank 3. Just apply what you learned in those events and the gold medal should come your way pretty easily. All of the Grand Prix events are quite easy actually...the early rank ones anyway. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Limited M-Type ST Lone Peak ========= ---------------------------- Preview Gold: 1:25:000 Silver: 1:40:000 Bronze: 1:55:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting medal in Race event (Central Route)] A lot of the shortcuts in this event are risky and could cause you to crash, so this event is very tricky. Keep at it though and you should be capable of getting a gold medal. If not, just get a silver or bronze and try the event again later on in the game. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Grand Prix event in Eastern Bay ============================================================================== 6.1.4 Rank 4 ============================================================================== From now on, all of the areas that you race on are repeated. Since you'll be used to the tracks by now since they're all in areas that you've raced in before, and also since some of my tips for the race events were becoming a bit repetitive, I'll mainly just state the gold/silver/bronze medal targets for each non-Crash event, and what is unlocked. Motor City ========== ---------------------------- Eliminator (Forwards) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 4] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Traffic Attack event in Motor City - Race event in Lone Peak ---------------------------- Traffic Attack (Long Forwards) Gold: $400,000 Silver: $150,000 Bronze: $75,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Eliminator event (Motor City)] You are only given 40 seconds at the start of this event, compared to 45 seconds for the previous Traffic Attack events you would have taken part in. This makes it a little more challenging, but just stick to the right side of the road hitting as much same-way traffic as you can, and it shouldn't make that much of a difference. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Road Rage event in Motor City - Burning Lap event in Lone Peak ---------------------------- Road Rage (Long Reverse) Gold: 12 Takedowns Silver: 9 Takedowns Bronze: 6 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (Motor City)] In addition to getting time extensions every time you reach a medal target, you also get a time extension at 3 Takedowns. This means that as long as you are getting Takedowns at a fairly regular rate, the slightly higher medal targets aren't much more difficult to get. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Tuned M-Type ST - Preview event in Eternal City ---------------------------- Grand Prix 4 Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Ragve event (Angel Valley)] Another 3-race Grand Prix, with the first two races being two laps long, and the final one lasting three laps. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Criterion M-Type ST Angel Valley ============ ---------------------------- Race (Forwards) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 4] Depending on which cars you have unlocked through completing the challenge sheets, if any, the Tuned M-Type ST vehicle that is unlocked in the Road Rage event in Motor City might now be your fastest vehicle, so if you have it, it might be your best option for this race. The event is two laps long. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Road Rage (Reverse) Gold: 15 Takedowns Silver: 9 Takedowns Bronze: 6 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Preview event (Eternal City)] The medal targets are increased even further in this Road Rage event, and it is fairly difficult for this stage of the game. I would advise not to use the shortcuts for this particular event, as some of them have a high chance of causing you to crash, or they at least make it much more difficult to Takedown your opponents. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Criterion R180 ST - Grand Prix event in Motor City ---------------------------- Crash (Drain Damage) Gold: $15,000,000 Silver: $7,000,000 Bronze: $4,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Forest Bump'] As you can probably tell from the damage cost targets, this event is quite difficult. Go up the very narrow path on the right hand sade, avoiding the stationary vehicle to your left, then just slam into the traffic on the main road. Of course, since the damage cost targets are so high, there are also a lot more vehicles to crash into - I managed to get three Crashbreakers in this one event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - SUV C150 HVY - Crash event in Eternal City (Circle Of Strife) Lone Peak ========= ---------------------------- Crash (Round The Bend) Gold: $3,000,000 Silver: $1,500,000 Bronze: $750,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 4] Hit the same-way traffic as you go around the road, then crash into an oncoming vehicle just before you reach the bend, and use impact time to steer your vehicle right towards the stationary vehicles that are off the road. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Lone Peak (Forest Bump) ---------------------------- Race (Forwards) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Eliminator event (Motor City)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Tuned R180 ST ---------------------------- Crash (Forest Bump) Gold: $14,000,000 Silver: $8,000,000 Bronze: $2,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Round The Bend'] This is fairly tough, partly because of the fairly high targets needed for silver and gold medals. Slam into the first oncoming van you see, then swerve to the left and knock the stationary cars on the side of the bridge off of it, so that they fall onto the main road below. Once you have your Crashbreaker, use it and drop down to the main road as well. If you're lucky, you might get a second Crashbreaker which would definitely help you get closer to the gold medal target. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Angel Valley (Drain Damage) ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Reverse) Gold: 1:20:000 Silver: 1:34:000 Bronze: 2:00:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (Motor City)] The Custom R202 GT vehicle is used for this event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Eliminator (Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Preview event (Eternal City)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Crash (Mount Crushmore) Gold: $6,000,000 Silver: $3,500,000 Bronze: $2,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Circle Of Strife'] The Stock C165 Super vehicle is used for this event. Traffic check the first two cars, avoid the first intersection then hit the big ramp ahead of you, leading to another separate road - just crash into any vehicle in this area using impact time. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Stock C175 Super Eternal City ============ ---------------------------- Crash (Circle Of Strife) Gold: $3,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Drain Damage'] If you find this particular Crash event familiar, that will be because you've attempted it before - except that the last time you did it (in Rank 2), you had to use a specific car; in this event, you can use whichever car you want. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Lone Peak (Mount Crushmore) ---------------------------- Preview Gold: 1:03:000 Silver: 1:13:000 Bronze: 1:40:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Rage event (Motor City)] The Euro Classic LM vehicle is used for this event. It is fast, but a bit too fast as this can result in you crashing more than usual. You might have to get used to the speed of the car on this track before getting gold or even silver. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Road Rage event in Angel Valley - Eliminator event in Lone Peak ============================================================================== 6.1.5 Rank 5 ============================================================================== This is the first Rank level in which you are able to take part in Crashbreaker Races (apart from the Crashbreaker Preview event in Rank 2). Sunshine Keys ============= ---------------------------- Crash (Smash My Ride) Gold: $7,000,000 Silver: $3,500,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Rome Wrecker'] Get a Perfect start, then hit the car closest to you, before quickly turning right through the shortcut and hitting the traffic on the main road there. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - 4x4 C165 MID - Crash event in Eternal City (Smackeroni) ---------------------------- Preview Gold: 1:30:000 Silver: 1:54:000 Bronze: 2:09:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Eliminator event (Eternal City)] The Custom Classic vehicle is used for this event. It's a very fast car, but this also means that you might have to get adjusted to the high speeds to avoid crashing. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Road Rage event in White Mountain Motor City ========== ---------------------------- Crash (Jump On The Jam) Gold: $8,000,000 Silver: $5,000,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Smackeroni'] A fast car is needed for this event just to actually get over to the bridge. Get a Perfect start and use the left ramp - if you've done it correctly, this will send you onto the bridge on the other side. Crash into any car there, then use impact time to drop down over the bridge onto the other road below it. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Lone Peak (Doughnut Disturb) Lone Peak ========= ---------------------------- Crash (Doughnut Disturb) Gold: $6,000,000 Silver: $3,000,000 Bronze: $2,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Jump On The Jam'] The Utility C150 Super vehicle is used for this event. It has a strong Crashbreaker, which you might need. Turn left through the gate, then hit the big ramp, controlling your car so that it goes through the doughnut and doesn't hit it. Once you've done this, just crash into anything and watch the cars pile up. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Utility C150 Super Eternal City ============ ---------------------------- Crash (Rome Wrecker) Gold: $2,500,000 Silver: $1,500,000 Bronze: $750,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 5] This is quite tough. Hit the same-way traffic in front of you if you can, before swiftly turning left, going up the very narrow path on the left-hand path and flying off of the platform into the traffic. You might need a couple of attempts just to get over the narrow path without crashing. I'd recommend using a car that is good at handling for this event, rather than a heavy vehicle. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Sunshine Keys (Smash My Ride) ---------------------------- Crash (Smackeroni) Gold: $3,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Smash My Ride'] Hit the ramp ahead of you, hit one of the buses and try and move your car further down the road after the crash, hitting other cars. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Motor City (Jump On The Jam) ---------------------------- Road Rage (Short Reverse) Gold: 15 Takedowns Silver: 9 Takedowns Bronze: 6 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Burning Lap event (White Mountain)] You only have 40 seconds at the start of this event, as opposed to 60 seconds for all of the previous Road Rage events. This makes the event a lot more difficult, as you have to get at least 3 Takedowns within 40 seconds or you have to start again. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Traffic Attack event in White Mountain ---------------------------- Race (Long Reverse)* Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Burning Lap event (White Mountain)] This race is two laps long. Fairly simple, and you probably won't need to use the newly available Crashbreakers too much either. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Factory R175 DX ---------------------------- Race (Short Reverse)* Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (White Mountain)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Eliminator (Long Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (White Mountain)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Preview event in Sunshine Keys ---------------------------- Eliminator (Short Reverse) Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Rage event (White Mountain)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Grand Prix event in Eternal City ---------------------------- Traffic Attack (Short Forwards) Gold: $500,000 Silver: $175,000 Bronze: $75,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Rage event (White Mountain)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A ---------------------------- Grand Prix 5 Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Eliminator event (Eternal City)] Once again, the Grand Prix is made up of three races. The first race is three laps long, and the second and third both last two laps. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Modified R185 DX White Mountain ============== ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Forwards) Gold: 2:02:000 Silver: 2:16:000 Bronze: 2:42:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 5] The Criterion R205 GT car is used for this event, which is fairly fast. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Road Rage event in Eternal City - Crashbreaker Race event in Eternal City ---------------------------- Traffic Attack (Forwards) Gold: $750,000 Silver: $250,000 Bronze: $125,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Road Rage event (Eternal City)] This event is only 35 seconds long at the start, which is shorter than the previous Traffic Attack events. However, it shouldn't make much of a difference once you have started to smash into the traffic on a regular basis. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Modified M-Type DX - Crashbreaker Race event in Eternal City - Eliminator event in Eternal City ---------------------------- Road Rage (Reverse) Gold: 18 Takedowns Silver: 12 Takedowns Bronze: 9 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Preview event (Sunshine Keys)] You have 50 seconds at the start of this event, but it is still extremely difficult. As always though, the time gets extended after every three Takedowns, so just try your best to get Takedowns on opponents whenever you see them on the track. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Factory M-Type DX - Eliminator event in Eternal City - Traffic Attack event in Eternal City ============================================================================== 6.1.6 Rank 6 ============================================================================== This is the first time "special cars" will take part in your race events. More information on them will be in the Challenge Sheets & Frequently Asked Questions sections. Central Route ============= ---------------------------- Crash (Won-Ton Destruction) Gold: $4,500,000 Silver: $2,500,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 6] This event is fairly simple & basic really - hit the ramp, crash into a car then drop down onto the other road to your left. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Central Route (Shao-Lin Tumble) ---------------------------- Crash (Shao-Lin Tumble) Gold: $7,000,000 Silver: $5,000,000 Bronze: $2,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Won-Ton Destruction'] Hit the ramp on the right-hand side of the left road - you can also try checking one of the cars nearby before hitting the ramp, although there is a chance that you could crash by doing this - and dive into the traffic before falling into the oncoming traffic. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Sport C180 Lite - Crash event in Eastern Bay (Crashaoke) ---------------------------- Road Rage (Short Reverse)* Gold: 18 Takedowns Silver: 12 Takedowns Bronze: 9 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (Eastern Bay)] The availablity of a Crashbreaker is useful for this event, as it allows you to get several Takedowns at once if you do crash. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Eliminator event in Eastern Bay ---------------------------- Race (Short Reverse)* Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Preview event (White Mountain)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Limited M-Type DX - Crashbreaker Road Rage event in Eastern Bay - Traffic Attack event in Eastern Bay ---------------------------- Crash (Street Car Set On Fire) Gold: $5,000,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Crashaoke'] You'll have done this event before in one of the earlier ranks - this time though, you are allowed to use any car you wish. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Central Route (Noodles Of Fun) ---------------------------- Crash (Noodles Of Fun) Gold: $6,000,000 Silver: $4,000,000 Bronze: $1,500,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Street Car Set On Fire'] The Off Road C180 Super vehicle is used for this event. Go off both of the ramps on top of the buildings to the left of the road (by getting good air, you improve your overall rating), then slam into the cars on the intersection. Once you have used your Crashbreaker, use impact time to drop down into the road below the main road, where there is more traffic to crash into. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Off Road C180 Super ---------------------------- Eliminator (Short Reverse)* Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Crashbreaker Road Rage event (Eastern Bay)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Works M-Type DX - Grand Prix event in Central Route ---------------------------- Grand Prix 6 Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Crashbreaker Eliminator event (Central Route)] As with the previous Grand Prix event, the first race lasts three laps while the second and third races are two laps long. Hit the ramp, manage to get over and onto the bridge and then just try to block as much traffic as possible using impact time. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Motor City (Mighty Docks) ---------------------------- Crash (Mighty Docks) Gold: $3,500,000 Silver: $2,000,000 Bronze: $750,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Double Crossed'] Hit the ramp to the right of the crane, and fly into the oncoming traffic nearby. This event has a fairly basic 'hit the ramp and jump onto traffic' concept, which makes it fairly easy. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Utility C140 HVY - Crash event in Motor City (Return Of The Semi) ---------------------------- Crash (Return Of The Semi) Gold: $4,000,000 Silver: $2,500,000 Bronze: $1,000,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Mighty Docks'] This is difficult, and you will again need a fast car for it. Traffic check the car just in front of you, before quickly turning left and going through the left path. Avoid the two oncoming vehicles, before hitting both ramps to land on the bridge on the other side. This might take a couple of attempts as it is hard to reach the end of the bridge after hitting the ramp, if you do not have a fast enough car or you didn't get a Perfect start. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crash event in Lone Peak (Off The Beaten Truck) ---------------------------- Race (Long Reverse)* Gold: 1st place Silver: 2nd place Bronze: 3rd place ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Traffic Attack event (Angel Valley)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: N/A Angel Valley ============ ---------------------------- Burning Lap (Forwards) Gold: 1:25:000 Silver: 1:39:000 Bronze: 2:05:000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked automatically with Rank 7] The Revenge Racer is used for this event. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Prototype M-Series DX - Crashbreaker Race in Sunshine Keys - Crashbreaker Race in Motor City ---------------------------- Road Rage (Forwards)* Gold: 19 Takedowns Silver: 14 Takedowns Bronze: 12 Takedowns ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Crashbreaker Race event (Sunshine Keys)] Road Rage events are starting to become increasingly difficult, but you can use Crashbreakers on packs of cars to get more Takedowns at once. Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Crashbreaker Eliminator event in Lone Peak Lone Peak ========= ---------------------------- Traffic Attack (Forwards) Gold: $900,000 Silver: $350,000 Bronze: $150,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in Crashbreaker Eliminator event (Sunshine Keys)] Getting a medal in this event unlocks: - Criterion M-Type DX ---------------------------- Crash (Off The Beaten Truck) Gold: $2,500,000 Silver: $1,500,000 Bronze: $750,000 ---------------------------- [Unlocked by getting a medal in 'Return Of The Semi'] This event would have been available to you in one of the earlier ranks, but this time you are allowed to choose whatever vehicle you want for the event. There are eight challenges in each area - completing all of the challenges in one area unlocks a car. The challenges do differ slightly in each area, but you still have to do the same sort of thing in all 8 challenges. Challenge 1 =========== These are all of the possible challenges that are given in each area for the first challenge: - Get explosive payback - Get double payback - Get triple payback - Get 4-way payback For this challenge, you have to take part in a Crashbreaker Race, Road Rage or Eliminator event (and therefore, you can't attempt this challenge anywhere until Rank 5, apart from the Preview Crashbreaker Race event in Rank 2). When you crash, use your Crashbreaker whenever your car is close to your opponents to explode and get "payback". Explosive payback is hitting 1 car, double is hitting 2, triple is hitting 3 and 4-way is obviously hitting 4. Challenge 2 =========== The second challenge for all areas is "Win a race without crashing". This is fairly self-explanatory - just take part in a race and finish first while not crashing throughout the race. Challenge 3 =========== The third challenge for all areas is "Do a vertical Takedown". For this, you have to hit a ramp or something which sends you into the air in a Race, Road Rage or Eliminator event, and land on top of one of your opponents for a Vertical Takedown. Challenge 4 =========== These are all of the possible challenges that are given in each area for the fourth challenge: - Do 1 revenge Takedown in a race - Do 2 revenge Takedowns in a race - Do 3 revenge Takedowns in a race To do this, you have to wait until an opponent makes you crash (or you can purposely get them to make you crash, your choice) - when this happens, text saying "taken out" will appear on the screen, followed by a closeup of the car that made you crash, with the text "new revenge rival". All you have to do after this is get a Takedown on this particular car to get a revenge Takedown. You can tell which car(s) made you crash by the red icon above their car. You have to do this once, twice or three times depending on the area. Challenge 5 =========== The fifth challenge for all areas is "Takedown a special car". You can't attempt this challenge until Rank 6 - at that point, special cars will be in your Race events. It will be the fastest car in the race, so you can tell which car is a special car by if it speeds ahead of the rest of the pack. Catch up with this car and force it to crash to get a Takedown and complete the challenge. Challenge 6 =========== The sixth challenge for all areas is "Check x vehicles in Traffic Attack" - x being however many vehicles it states in the challenge sheet for the area. In a Traffic Attack event, simply hit as much traffic as the challenge states to complete the challenge. Challenge 7 =========== The seventh challenge for all areas is "Blow up x vehicles" - x being however many vehicles it states in the challenge sheet for the area. In a Crash event, either use your Crashbreaker or drive into cars when your car has exploded on however many cars the challenge states to complete the challenge. Frequently Asked Questions ============================================================================== 1) Q: How do you get explosive/triple/4-way payback? A: When you are in a Crashbreaker Race, while in impact time after crashing, use your Crashbreaker when one or more opponents are nearby to get 'payback'. 2) Q: I can't get a gold medal in a certain event, please help! A: If it's not a Burning/Preview Lap event, or a Crash event which requires a particular car to use, just skip it for now - only getting a bronze or silver medal is fine, and you'll get better cars later on in the game which are unlocked, which you can use to improve your performance. If it is - keep trying! 3) Q: What is a 'special car' and how do I find one? A: Special cars are unlocked in Race events from Rank 6. They're one of your opponents in races - you can usually tell whether a car is a special car or not if they are much faster than your other opponents in the race and usually in the lead. 4) Q: Why can't I play a non-World Tour, single player mode in Revenge? There was a similar mode available for Burnout 3... A: For some reason, single-player mode was removed from the game. 5) Q: What if I don't have a Madden NFL or Burnout 3 game save, and therefore can't unlock either of the cars at the beginning of the game? Am I unable to get 100% because of this? A: You can still get 100% without the Madden/Burnout 3 saves. In fact, you don't even need to get gold medals in all events to get 100%, for some reason. 6) Q: In Crash events, I have a vehicle with a high level Crashbreaker but it always drops down really quickly once it gets to 100%, and I can't tap R2 fast enough to get the full impact of the Crashbreaker...is there any easier way of doing so? A: Just before your Crashbreaker meter reaches 100%, press & hold R1 to go into impact time. This slows everything down, including the rate at which the Crashbreaker meter goes down once you do reach 100%, so you can easily tap R2 fast enough to get it all the way back up to 100%. 7) Q: I crashed in a race but I don't have the option to use a Crashbreaker. I thought you could use them in race events in this game? A: Crashbreakers can only be used in Crashbreaker events - these are not unlocked until later in the game (Rank 5). 8) Q: I can never get off to a good start in Crash events - how does the golf-style meter work? A: It's fairly simple really - you have to press X once when the cursor reaches the green bar at the top of the meter, and then press it again when it goes down to the green bar at the bottom. Depending on how well you time the button-pressing, you should get a 'Perfect' start if you press X on the green bars both times. 9) Q: Is there any easy way of completing the 2nd challenge sheet (winning a race without crashing)? A: You can actually win the race first of all before you attempt the challenge (i.e. you can still crash as long as you finish first), then reattempt the race, drive slowly without crashing, and complete the challenge even if you don't actually finish in first - for some reason, the game accepts this as completing the challenge. 10) Q: Is the seventh challenge sheet (Blow up x vehicles) referring to vehicles in Crash mode or another type of mode? A: It applies to blowing up vehicles in Crash mode (which can usually be done by either driving/flying into vehicles at a very fast speed, or just using your Crashbreaker near vehicles to make them explode.
