There were a few, but nothing for the people out there who just want to know some stuff, like how to unlock costumes. I decided to write what I know and hopefully this will help some of the people out there who don't want to register to certain services just to see one lousy webpage. Revisions from Previous Versions: v.0.02 - A couple of people emailed me to correct Tina's C7 costume. Also, a slight correction on a tag team combination. v.0.01 - Initial version. Tiny short and opinionated review of DOA2:Hardcore: A port of the arcade game Dead or Alive 2 that was developed on Naomi (read: Dreamcast) hardware, DOA2:Hardcore is the penultimate version of this game. (In more ways than one: Tomonobu Itagaki, DOA2 producer/director, said in the October 2000 issue of PSM that the US DOA2:Hardcore is the final iteration of the game. Although NextGen said that Tecmo might do a version of DOA2 for Xbox, that's purely speculation.) DOA2:Hardcore improves on the Dreamcast version in most ways, including graphics, control, and options. Most of these tweaks are too slight perhaps for players who already own the Dreamcast version to go out and buy, but for people who don't have or won't buy a Dreamcast, this is a pretty sweet game to own. One may also add me to the side who prefers the less complex fighting system of DOA2 than the expert-tilted Tekken series. Plus the character design of DOA is a lot better than Tekken in my opinion, in that the characters have a lot more personality than those ultra-boring Tekken people. I mean, come on. But that's my opinion. (Tekken fans, please don't email me because of my review. If you like it and all, more power to you.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contents ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Section One: Unlocking Costumes Section Two: Unlocking Bayman and Tengu Section Three: Special Tag Teams ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Section One: Unlocking Costumes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: Each objective must be done sequentially. One can't simply earn a whole bunch of points for one objective and expect to get all the costumes before that objective. Get one, and the next will come after. ========== Ayane ========== C3 Complete Story Mode on any setting. -OR- Play as Ayane 5 times with UPS on. Tengu Collect 10 stars in Survival Mode. -OR- Play as any combination of characters more than 200 times. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Section Three: Special Tag Teams ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tag team attack: Forward, Forward + F+P+K One of the newer features of the PlayStation2 version was giving more combinations of characters more tag team moves. Some have said that the PlayStation2 version gives all combinations of characters tag team moves. This isn't exactly true, but still there are more tag team moves. Note that not all teams are reciprocal. Therefore, some characters have a tag team move with one, but the other character in the tag team would just use the default tag team attack. Although Gen-Fu would back Jann-Lee up, Jann-Lee would not do the same for Gen-Fu. Kasumi: with Hayabusa, Helena, Ayane, and Ein Hayabusa: with Kasumi, Gen-Fu (combo move), Tina, Bass, Leon, Jann-Lee, Ayane, and Ein. Helena: with Kasumi, Gen-Fu, and Lei-Fang Gen-Fu: with Hayabusa (combo move), Helena, Leon, Zack, and Lei-Fang Tina: with Hayabusa, Bass, Zack, Lei-Fang, and Leon Bass: with Hayabusa, Tina, Zack, Leon, and Ayane Leon: with Hayabusa, Gen-Fu, Tina, Bass, and Zack Jann-Lee: with Hayabusa, Gen-Fu, Lei-Fang, and Ein Lei-Fang: with Helena, Gen-Fu, Tina, Zack, Jann-Lee, and Ayane Ayane: with Kasumi, Hayabusa, Bass, and Ein Ein: with Kasumi, Hayabusa, Bass, Jann-Lee, and Ayane For people who have unlocked and regularly play as Bayman, just substitute Leon with him. Bayman and Leon themselves also have their own tag team. As for Tengu? Well, I guess nobody likes that big ugly freak because he has no special tag team moves with anyone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Thanks and Respect Due ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Love, always, to my girl Risa. Thanks to PSM for various infos and stuff. Thanks to Justin Blade and MrFrezX, who alerted me to an oversight. Thanks to Shawn Sackenheim over at Gamefusion.com, who let me play his copy of the Dead or Alive 2 demo that convinced me to buy and subsequently get addicted to that game ever since. Respect goes to all the artists and bands I listened to while playing this game so much: Funker Vogt, Winterkaelte, Rie Tomosaka, Shiina Ringo, yelworC, VNV Nation, Suicide Commando, Mai Kuraki, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Imminent Starvation. Anyone who knows anything about any of the above music knows this is more than an eclectic combination. And thanks to... YOU! lumi - out (c) 2000 C. Siat
