Dragon Quest along with Final Fantasy have for a long time been well know RPGs. Dragon Quest 1 was released in 1986 and was the pioneer of what we know of RPGs today. Final Fantasy followed a year later after the boom and was equally as popular. Both Square with FF and Enix with DQ were friendly rivals of RPGs through NES and SNES era. After when Playstation was released Final Fantasy became more graphical and story driven. Dragon Quest kept it's rich core game place and more charming and down to earth story telling. Last few games were over 3 to 4 years in develpment to perfectly balance the game. Now after 4 years since DQ7 was released in 2001 (japan 2000) we get the 8th installment. In north america Dragon Quest was known as Dragon Warrior. The main reason for this was that there was already a PC game with Dragon Quest as the title. So any release of Dragon Quest in NA would be known as Dragon Warrior until 2005 when Enix gets the rights for Dragon Quest. The game: The game itself is known as a RPG or Role Playing Game. Instead of action game this is more on exploration and turn base battles. The battles are stat driven. You and your foes has stats such as Hit points and Magic Points plus others like strength, intelligence, agility, ect. It all plays out in the battle. There is no reflex needed for battles. Its all on strategy. Your made to explore the world. Other then its main plot/town stories you'll find lots of hidden things through exploring. Battles itself are also carefully balance. Nothing in a DQ game ever is really frustrating. Challenging yes but nothing to turn the system off. Boss battles can always get you tensed. I had a few where i barely lived with 1 or 2 guys left. Humor is also very alive in DQ games. As many has pointed out it is very charming. There is also even sad moments where someone dies and you can't not feel sorry. But only way to really know what to expect is to try it. €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ ««« 02. I've also added the lvl i was about on to get an idea if you need lvling or maybe over powered as it is. Enjoy~ Legend: ----------- CS : Cutscene. Story-telling without the spoilers ^_^ Lv range : About the level you should be in to get thruough. Since theres always on luck of enemies attack, equipment, ect. people can win it earlier or later then the levels i have. «« «« 3.01.1 The journey begins, Lv range: 1 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - So the story beings. Just follow along what is happening. You'll eventually fight a pack of slimes. Dont worry they're easy enough. You should eventually get to your first town, Farebury. - Head to the Pub. Use the Square button to look at the map. Its the pic of a beer mug. Talk to everyone inside and you should get a cutscene. - After that you'll hear about a monster. Just head back to the wagon for a cutscene. After that head to the house in front of the water well. Its basicly at the north west on the second floor. Talk to the girl for a CS. «« «« 3.01.2 Waterfall Cave, Lv range: 5-6 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Get whatever items you can get from town. A Chimaera Wing you should buy. It lets you warp back to town. After you get prepared head out of town. You can go exploring alittle but don't go far. Try to fight lots of enemies near the town. To be able to beat the boss in the cave you need about lvl 5 or 6. As you fight and lvl up so will you'r money increase. Make sure to keep buying new stuff you can afford like armors and weapons. - After getting about lvl 3 or 4 you can definatly lvl some in the cave. When your truely ready to go deep in the cave make sure to heal and save before going in. The cave itself is easy to not get lost. First treasure chest is the map so that sould help you even more. - Now you can go either left or right. Going right will get you some chest but the path is alittle longer too. If you go right make sure to talk to the person there. Both ways lead to the same place. - Go down the stairs at the south end. You'll head east then south. You'll come to a monster blocking your way. Talk and say yes. You'll be surprised. Continue on and you'll come to another fork. Take left for a dead end but a chest. Taking right will lead you to the boss. - Boss 001: Geyzer This is your 1st boss. If your level 5 or 6 this should be easy. All you have to do is attack and heal when needed. Having Herbs on each character is good in case. - After you get the crystal ball head back to town and talk to the girl again for another CS. You'll then get the lead to head to Alexandria. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.02.1 Alexandria, Lv range: 6 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - After taking the fork left from the first town you'll arrive at Alexandria. You'll be greeted by 2 town boys via CS. After that make sure to have a look around. Buy weapons, armors, sleep at the inn and save. - Head to the big house at the end of town during the day. Have a look around. You'll eventually want to get to the third floor where a maid is standing near some boxes. Talk to her for a CS. - Now examine the little mouse hole for a CS. You'll be controlling your pet through this. Just climb the broom on the side of the desk to get to the desk itself. You'r goal is to pick up the letter and get back to your hero. - After you get the letter go to where the 2 boys are guarding the door and use the item on the left boy for a CS. - Now get ready to head to the tower east of town. Make sure to get a few lvls outside of town before venturing to the tower. «« «« 3.02.2 Tower Trouble, Lv range: 8-9 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - When you reach the tower just examine the door for a CS. The boy will open the door for you. You don't really need to memorize how it was opened. - The layout isnt at all confusing but isnt as simple as the cave. For the most part it is also rather linear. The tower of is over 6 floors high but the rooms are small. After you enter the first door go up the stairs. The west door is locked but the north isn't. Go through the north door. - You'll enter a room. Just go down the stairs and through to the door at the north/west. As you exit to the outside notice the chest. Open it for the map. Now head west and find stairs going up. The door just after the stairs is a dead end eith nothing so continue for the second door. Inside here notice the door to the left. Examine once to unlock it. You got a shortcut now incase you go out then come back. - Head down the ladder for a chest and some jugs. The jugs have: Moonwort bulb, 11 gold, 22 gold, Medical herb. Now head up the ladder then up the second ladder and enter the door. Your outside. Just follow the path to the door and enter it. - In this room you might have noticed double blue lights on the wall. Just examine them and you'll be turn and on the other side of the wall. Go up the stairs. In this floor is the same blue eye doors, one on each wall. Use the right one. Next little room do same thing with new blue eye door then go up the stairs. - On floor 5 youll see a path before you and the blue eye door. Either way leads to the stairs. You might want to use the door since its shorter. - On floor 6 you'll find yourself at a single path going east then north. You'll come across a door with blue eyes. Enter that wil net you a chests and a jug but have to head back to the corridor. At the corridor continue its path to the stairs and go up. - Floor 7. Luckly there is no boss here so you can relax. Head towards the statue for a CS. Talk to the girl and you'll be instructed to go back to town and meet up afterward. - Head back to town and go to the inn for a free night. The next day go to the 2nd floor in the mansion for a CS. You'r pretty much done here. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.03.1 Port Prospect, Lv range: 10-11 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Heading towards Alexandria Tower but make a right at the fork for a rather long road to Port Prospect. It shouldn't be too difficult. If you ever run low on MP just warp back to Alexandria, recover and try again, probably with some higher levels too. - When you reach the port have a look around. Its not big so you shouldn't get lost but there is wep/armor/item shops. - When your ready head to the light house and you'll see Jessica. Get close for a CS. After you accept to help you got another chance to get prepared. When you are talk to jessica again and prepare to board the boat. «« «« 3.03.2 Rough Seas, Lv range: 11-12 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Once you get on the boat you'll get to look around and talk to different people. After you talk with everyone the boss will appear. - Boss 002: Khalamari Khalamari is your second boss. He isn't really any different then Geyzer. Being at about lvl 11 will make him pretty easy. As always don't shy from healing. Use it up; you don't need it anywhere else. And this is one boss with no dungeon. - After your done you'll head right back to Port Prospect for more item buying, resting saving. - Now you can get on the boat for your real ride to Peregrin Quay. When you land check around. Then its off for adventures. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.04.1 Maella Abbey, Lv range: 12-13 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - As you travel down the new path you'll come across Maella Abbey. Save at the front door and have a look arround. You'll eventually get a CS with un-warm welcome. - After that exit going south and follow the path. You'll reach the town of Simpleton. Have a look around here. You'r goal is the pub. When you talk to one of the poker playing guys you'll get a really funny CS. You'll be given a ring and asked to head back to Maella Abbey. - Having the ring will give you access in the back of Maella Abbey. Have a look around here then head to the prison area. At the end of the prisons area you'll get a CS. - Now head to the back center door on the first floor for a CS. Since getting to the back area is blocked you'll have to take a different route. «« «« 3.04.2 Ruined Abbey, Lv. range: 14-15 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Prepare yourself then exit south out of the Maella Abbey and follow the river east til you get to a romote path to a dead end area with some ruins. Examine the acient stone marker and use the ring on it to reveal a path. Head in. - Enter and head straight through a door way. The next room has a left and right stairs. They both lead the same way but the right one is shorter. Head south til you see stairs. Look east for 2 chest. The left chest is a Cannibox. The right is a map. - Now go west and down the stairs. Continue west up some stairs. Open the left closet for a Iron Nail. Theres also a ladder in this room. You can either go back east and then south to a stairs or down this ladder then head southwards. Both lead the same. - Taking ladder path you will come across a chest. Inside is a Bronze Shield. Now head west then south then east to stairs going down. Go down them. - This room on the 4th floor has poison footing. From the doorway go south/east and southwards. Try not to stay long in the poison pool. It is draining your life. After this room good up the stairs. You'll come to a room with a door on the east and west. Enter the east door and check around. Waterweed mould, and mini medal is in some barrels. The west door has 50 gold. - Now go back to the main path and head south. Open the door and you'll see the next boss. Cure up before engaging. - Boss 003: Tortured Soul This boss can be tough. He summons helpers. 2 usually. Kill one but not the other. If both die Tortured Soul could spawn more. The other one you can just sleep til the big boss is down. Was pretty funny actually. I slept it like 7 times. Tortured Soul himself does regular attacks and Aoe ones. Keep yourself healed and go for the kill. - When you get out head for the Abbey. You'll see all the guards down. Head to the second floor for a CS. This is CS is pretty long and entertaining. When your in your cell just talk to everyone around you til another CS happens. - After you make your escape and are free you'll head back to Maella Abbey using the front door again this time. Head all the way back and pass the burning bridge. Enter the abbey itself and go to the second floor for another CS. - After you have control back in Maella Abbey exit out and enter the room guarded by 2 soldiers. You'll get a CS here and eventually the World Map. Head back out and get a CS with Angelo. Now your done with this story. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.05.1 Ascantha, Lv. range: 15-16 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Travel as if going to Simpleton but continue the path down. This will be a very long path. You will eventually hit night til you come to Riverside Chapel. Its your small break stop before reaching your next destination. - After a long journey you'll reach the castle town of Ascantha. If you noticed everyone is dressed in black. Take a look around and check the shops, sleep and save. - Now check around inside the castle. You'll eventually wanna be in the throne room at night. Talk to the king then. When you go downstairs you'll see Emma. - Now head back to Riverside Chapel and enter the house that near the chapel. Talk to everyone there. «« «« 3.05.2 Another World and a wish!?, Lv range: 16 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Head north from the house near the chapel for a path down that follows the river down. You will eventually reach a cave. Enter and work your way up til you hit the summit. - Walk around til you get a CS of a doorway appearing. Now enter it. Talk to the person inside and when you exit you'll be back at the castle. - Head to the throne room for a good long CS. After its over you'll be feasting at the table. You are basicly done. Head out the castle for another CS. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.06.1 No road to Pickham, Lv range: 17 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - You got a good long journey with no road. Basicly head south from Ascentha. You'll will find a way south. Keep looking at the world map for referrence. - Like riverside chapel there is a small house with inn/chapel. Use it as your half way point. - Follow the shore line where you will evntually start heading west. You will pass a small building. You can check it out though this is not your destination.Luckly you will find a path eventually. Just follow that til you get to Pickham. - After you get a CS entering Pickham head Northeast then south and look for a staircase to the roofs of the buildings. You'll find soem stairs going down. Go there for a CS. Then talk to Trode from the pub next to the inn at the back. - How head to the southwest of town to a house near the lookout tower. Inside you'll find a thief and a CS. Next enter the south/east pub and talk to the bar keep. You'll be let in the door at the back. And in the back you'll get another CS. Now its time to head out of town. «« «« 3.06.2 From 'orse to ruins, Lv. range: 18 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - After all the excitement for the 'orse in town you will need to head south/west to find a house. Talk to the bodyguard outside of the house then go inside and talk to the person there. - Now you need to head north to enter a dungeon. You might want to head back to Pickham to rest and save. When your ready head to the dungeon. - This dungeon is alittle complex but nothing bad. Take the left path and journey on. If enemies are too tough here make sure to lvl up some. When you see a fork with a path in 4 directions head north. Check the door to be bounced to the hole and be able to obtain a map in a chest. - There are a few puzzles in this dungeon. They are very easy. One you just move a statue to the darken square and the other you allign 2 statues to the block the is under a hole. - Boss 004: Trap Box Trap Box is a pretty nasty boss. It can use Confuse and Sleep. Make sure you got items and spells to help with it. Having Jessica and Angelo as healing and the other 2 for attacks. Raising tension is good here since you got healers always healing. Have hero heal too if you need to. - After you get the Venus Tear head back to Reds place. After that head back to Pickham and see if brains is there now. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.07.1 Ships Ahoy, Lv range: 19-20 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Now head back to Port Prospect. No new items here but stock up on whatever you need. When your ready head out. - As you exit town make a left right away for a path. You should from here see a path heading west on the map. Dont think the first few rounds of enemies will mean smooth sailing. They get to your lvl fast. You'll find a small house for inn and saving. Check the well too for Slime Crown. After that head east down the hill, north then west to carry on. - You'll eventually find the ship and get a cut scene. After that continue heading west to the cave that you can see on the map. Luckly this isnt a change map cave. Just a simple pass thru in world map. «« «« 3.07.2 Trodain for Help, Lv range: 21-22 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Entering the castle you'll get a cutscene then be passed the gates inside. If you had any dead they are revived but becareful there still battles inside and no way to recover that i can see. Luckly you can zoom back to the castle so you might as well go to a different town, rest and save. - As you go up the stairs and in the door follow right wall and open the door for a Magic Key. - If you then head east to the main room go out the front door for a map. Now go back in and head east. Now head up to the third floor and your goal is to go north/west and outside. Enter the towners entrance and go down to the first floor. Head south by using the throne room. - Your in the library. Make sure to check all the books for alchemy info. Also unlock the door for quicker access. Keep going south for CS. Check the bookshelfs for the book in question for another CS. You'll get a kick of where you have to go next. Enter the new passage. «« «« 3.07.3 Music Helpers, Lv range: 21-22 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - This part your basicly made to look around where to go next. - If you done looking or give up you have to head over to Ascantha. Head to the throne room and talk to the king. Watch the CS. Even though he saids dont go in for he'll get the guards you go anyway. - Its a pretty dark cave but just head northwards til you get out on the world map. Head north to enter another cave. There a chest near it with Mini Medal. - Inside the cave is more battles but they aren't as tough as the castle before. Also the layout is quite simple to get through. There is a map if you make a right from the start. There are also some moles walking around. You can talk to them. - Am the third map at the lower right is the boss. When you reach him you'll get a CS. When you talk to him say yes a few time for a laugh. Say no for the battle. - Boss 005: 1 Don Mole, 4x Soul Moles This boss comes with 4 helpers. This will drain the water. Now head back to the 3rd floor. Go to the stairs at the south west. Follow the path and you'll get a CS. - Boss 011: Captain Crow The main thing unique with this boss is he likes to use tension alot. This can give a couple rounds of free hits. He usually wants that 100. But when he attacks he will usually use the party effect of taking all your stat bonus off then a full party attack that is about 200-300 dmg for everyone. Not pretty indeed. Just use multi heal the next few rounds. He might break off to 100 with an attack or 2. Just keep attacking and healing. - After you win open up the chest you'll get a item and a CS. «« «« 3.15.2 Hidden Land, Lv range: 32-34 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Get back on your ship and sail to where the X is on the map. One will probably be Zap which does about 50-60 dmg per each member. The other is a beak or claw attack former is about 180-200 and latter is over 200 dmg. You'll be healing alot. She does stat bonus take off move too. - After your very... excting battle, you'll get a CS. First yes/no pick yes to help. On the second hit No, unless you are ready to go to the dungeon then its a yes. If you picked no go back to town and rest then save. - When your ready head back to where you fought Empyrea. You want to head to right exit to continue your journey. - 2nd outside path. Just follow its linear path to the cave. - 3rd room may look confusing but its quite simple. In the middle is the dead end path from before. You start on the left side and make your way to the right and enter the cave. - The 4th room isn't any tougher in design then the last except here doesn't seem so apparent which way to go. Head north then east and walk up the path. At the fountain make a right so your heading west then continue its path to a cave exit. - 3rd outside path. Just follow on to the next cave entrance. - Enix knows how to make interesting dungeons. 5th room is another with 2 different paths. Go east then north. Your goal is the arrow Left. Taking bottom/right arrow path will lead you to a dead end but a chest with Saint's Ashes. - Heading to the east on map 5 will take you to a swirling path going up. You will then exit out and be at the boss. When i exited the boss was right in front of me. I thought it was instant battle but you are given a chance to heal. - Boss 013: Gemon, Dark Turkey, Dark Condor As you can see Gemon has help but they are very easy to kill. You should kill one but not both since if both dies Gemon calls 2 more. This battle is alot like Empyrea. Gemon has double attacks and each is over 100 dmg. He has also a full party fire attack. He cast bounce so using magic on him is not a good thing. One good thing is there is no stat buff take off move. - After your battle watch the CS unfolds. Now head up the stairs and enter Lord High Priest room. You can talk to the people before the beast if you want. - Boss 013: Evil Sir Leopold Sir evil should be hard after the last couple battles you had. He only has 3 kinds of attacks. 1) normal attack that does about 100 dmg, 2) a full party cold breath attack for over 100 dmg each, and 3) intimidate. Its not too bad except his normal attacks can easily pull a critical. Also his cold breath is quite harsh. Make sure you have a healer going and just attack with the rest. - After you win, sit back and watch the CS roll. - After the nice CS you'll arrive at Purgatory Island. Talk to every one in the cell. You might have to talk to many more then once before you get another CS. Walk inside for a CS. - Boss 013: Marcello Marcello has alittle more defence then evil sir leopold. He also has more moves too. Normal attacks around 100 dmg. Theres 2 single target spells doing about 100 dmg. He also used Midheal ands about 80 HP. The worst attack is the all party attack and does about 140 dmg to everyone. He also does the wave of ice move that takes all extra buff off you so don't buff too much. - After the battle sit back and watch the CS. Head north up first stairs then second then up east stairs and head north. Follow the single path to the top. Enter the doorway then enter the door way thats inside. - This next room is stair ways down on left and right. Both lead to same place. Go down nexts stairs now head west then north. Don't go down the first stairs you see. Continue north and around then go down the second stairs. Head north then down another stairs. Now head south then down another set of stairs. - Now you entered an area that doesn't look broken down. Examine plaque just north of you. When you do you'll recover HP and MP. Now start walkign around this circle maze. Keep going around. You'll make a circle and wonder where to go. Keep going to see some difference. After 3 circles around your path will be opened. - Last room. A long corridor going north. You'll get a CS when you get close to the boss. Heal up. - Boss 014: Rhapthorne Rhapthorne isnt anything new you havn't seen before but can be nasty. First off he can use wave of ice to debuff you so don't tension too much. He can blind the party too. His normal attack is about 100 dmg but critical is rather common. He can cold breath and cause 130+ dmg to your party. Can also use other single target spells but theyre not that much. He can kaboom too. Its only about 70+ dmg. Just make sure you have a curer. He does double attack and since its a big list of moves you can do anything. «« «« 3.18.2 Down She goes, Lv range: 36-39 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - After you win enjoy your little victory. You also get all bad status effects and will recover all HP and MP. - You know something is yet to come if you get healed. The place is crumbling and you can't use Evac or Zoom. You got to run all the way back. Start going back the way you came. After going up the stair case you'll be at the circle like room. I made a right and ran down. You'll get a CS and a fight begins. - Battle: Servant of Darkness, 2x Dancing Flames. The dancing flames arent tough at all. Just attack each of the dancing flames then the servant. - After the battle keep going. You'll see that plaque that made you recover your HP and MP from before. Check it again for the same thing. Now if you go up the stairs you'll find its a dead end so avoid them. Continue the path. As you swing around you'll see the true stairs up but its another battle. - Battle: Statue of Hero, Jessica, Yangus, and Angelo. Yep your fighting statues of yourself. They know all the moves their counterparts know. Luckly they dont have alot of HP. Use jessicas spells all you like your get a refresh. - As i said you'll get a refresh of HP and MP when the battle is over. That same plaque is on opposite side of stairs. After you recover go up the stairs. Now your are the area where the purple trees use to be. Head up the way you came down. You'll eventually get into fight number 3. - Battle: 2x Megalodons This battle is another not too tough. The only thing you might be worried about is conserving MP. These guys seem to only do normal attacks. Be careful though, they can critical quite often. Normal attack is about 100 dmg and critical is over 250 dmg. - After the battle is over make sure to heal yourself. Now head to either of the 2 stairways up. Now enter the doorway for a CS and a battle. - Boss 015: Ruin This boss may look tough but its quite easy. It only has one attack: a normal attack. It does about 200 dmg but he only 1 attack. Use Accelerate right away. Have Hero and Yangus tention and have Angelo do a Full heal to the person that takes the hit. I killed it in 4 50 tentions and some of jessicas spells. - After you have won you'll notice your outside. Use Godbird's Soulstone to exit out. Now watch the CS. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.19.1 Echo of Hope Once Again, Lv range: 36-39 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Watch the great CS. You earned it after some good battles. All seems lost but a new chance for hope surfaces. You'll get the Echo Flute. If you placed Dragon Quest 3 you know how it works. You will need to search the world for 7 orbs. When your near one the flute sound is echoed. Now off to find the orbs. If you think of it the clues on where to look are where the sages were to begin with. - Also another thing to point out. You seen the events that just happened... Well now the enemies you fought in the World of Darkness are all around the world of light now. Many battles have mix and match. - Purple Orb: Head to Farebury and use the flute inside the town for the echo. The orb is at where the house was burned at the beginning of the game. - Blue Orb: The blue orb is in Alexandra Tower. Head all the way up to the statue room. You'll see a glow on the ground. Thats the orb. - Gold Orb: Head over to Maella Abbey. Head to the abbey at the back and go up the stairs to the second floor. The orb is there on the floor. - Yellow Orb: This orb is in Baccarat. Make sure to come during the day so you can enter the mansion. Once inside head up stairs and into one of the bed rooms for the orb on the floor. - Green Orb: Zoom over to Arcadia. Head to the spot you fought Evil Jessica for the green orb. - Red Orb: Zoom over to Marta's Cottage and walk to the cave entrance there Marta died. The orb sit on the floor there. - Silver Orb: Use godbird's soulstone and fly to the Lord High Priest residence. Enter the room where you fought Evil Sir Leopold. You'll see the orb sparkling on the floor. - Once you have gathered all of the 7 orbs make sure to save and heal up then head back to where you last spoke with Empyrea. «« «« 3.19.2 The End is Here, Lv range: 38-40 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - After getting all 7 orbs make sure to save and go back and talk to Empyrea. You'll get a CS. Select yes 2 times for the final battle. You will recover full as a gift from the godbird. - Boss 016: Rhapthorne This first part of the battle looks very cool. Your party on the godbird flying around Rhapthorne in the sky. Your goal here is to pick item and select the Sceptre and pray. Make everyone pray. All 4 need to pray on the same turn for a sage to appear. Rhapthorne does attack so cure when needed. Unfortunatly if even one person doesn't pray it won't call a sage. Use the first round to pray since your good. If you need a round to heal or raise do it and try to get everyone in on it. Have some buff or just defend. Also use all the MP you want you'll get a recover after its over. - After you have called all 7 sages watch the CS. You will then be recovered fully with your HP and MP. - Boss 017: Rhapthorne Now for the real fight. He has lots of all party attacks. The meteor and fire breaths don't really do more then 80 dmg a person. His ice breath though is nasty, over 130 dmg. He also does his staff battle attack that does 2 150+ dmg to random persons. He does wave of ice so don't bother to go high on tension if you do at all. Omniheal works great here as well as using multi heal. Kafrizzle does 150 dmg to him so if your not speeding agi, use that. @}================================={@ «« «« 3.20 Victory!, Lv range: 38-40 »» »» ------------------------------------------------------------------- - Once you defeat Rhapthorne evil is gone from the world. After you watch that head up the stairs up head then head through the big doors there. Have a look around in some of the rooms then head up the next stairs to the third floor. - Once you get to the third floor start walking forward to get another CS. Now make a right at the turn. The princess door is just after the door to where the sceptre use to be. Open it for a CS. - Once you wake up head out the inn. Walk down the path to find Angelo and Jessica. Get close for another CS. Once you can move again head up the stairs towards the crowd. You'll get a CS with the crowd then be able to move again infront of that crowd. You'll get another CS with the guard. Say yes 2 times. Watch the CS roll. - After some turn of events you'll be back outside. Once you can move again head down the stairs with the fixed camera angle. Youll get another little CS. Now talk to the Princess. Select yes. Go on you know you wanna. - Now site back and watch the ending and credit roll. You'll also see that the bazaar is gone. Oh well- - When your ready your destination is a extra dungeon opened only after defeating the last boss. It is east of Baccarat high on a hill. Take to the skys and land on this new area. Examine the glowing light on a stone rock to enter the extra dungeon. - Once you enter head north. Now you'll enter a big room. Just head west til you get to a big opening. Now you'll come to a fork in the road. - 1st fork make a right. You'll follow the path til you get to some stairs going down. Head down them. Walk this linear path through til you get to a cavern. Here is another fork. - 2nd fork: Make a left. Notice the pictures on the walls as you travel through. At the end is a chest. Open it to recieve the Seed of Skill and head back to the 2nd fork area. Make a right for the path to continue on. - 3rd fork: Make a left to continue forward. You'll eventually reach another fork. - 4th fork: This fork both leads the same place. Going straight (south) is the longer path so head east. Follow the long path through. The first left you come across is a dead end but has a chest with Elfin Elixir. From the main path you continue on there ill then be a path to the right. Is this game single layer or double layer? My PS2 doesn't read double layer any more. A. Its single layer. Your safe. Q 02. What was added in NA version that JP version doesnt have? A. A few things. 1) The menu system was redone, 2) More then half the songs in the game were replaced with real symphony orchestra, 3) There is voice acting. JP didn't have any. 4) There's other miner things like some classic sound effects were removed. Also the cross symbol in churchs were changed abit. Q 03. Was the crosses in the church's altered for NA release? A. Aparently not. I have heard that both JP and NA version have the same cross design. (info by Tamara) Q 04. You can turn into a Super Sayian!? A. Nope. Not in the way you think. For the hero having high tension does look like a super sayian, its just some graphic work as a selling point. You cant do any famous DBZ moves or other things. In Jp, the bandana stays on, not in NA version though. Also the characters are design by Akira Toriyama, same person that also did Dragon Ball. Q 05. Theres a code to make the classic menu available. A. I got no idea if it's true. Might not be but i'll keep my eyes open. Q 06. DQ8 is made by square! A. The game is made by Enix actually. Just like all the DQ games before it. Level 5 only created the world. And SquareEnix is the name of 2 companies working together. They still make most games by which ever side company. They just are more collective and no competitive. Q 07. Is there a New Game+ ? A. Nope no New Game+ but there is a Continue+. What that does is open a new path for a second ending and a secret dungeon. «« 15.02 Item/Spell question »» --------------------------------------------------------- Q 01. Is there a bank in DQ8? A. Yes there is though you wont get to one for alittle while in the game. Q 02. Where i find the World Map? A. It will be given to you in one of the stories as a reward. Q 03. I'm at this town and theres a locked door with many chest behind it how do I open it? A. If theres no way to open with the keys you have now, wait awhile and come back to it later. You might be able to open then. Q 04. How you make Thiefs Key? A. Check Section 4 Alchemy List Q 05. How do I upgrade the Alchemy Pot to the last form? A. Just continue with your adventure. You'll get it in time. Q 06. how to open the barred doors in Pickham with the treasure behind them, and the boxes that say "the key doesn't fit" A. You need to get farther in the game to open it. You'll find a different key along the way Q 07. Is there an item in the game where you can reach is quicker. Plus I notice that a certain hammer head enemy with a huge hammer can get to high 100 tension in one turn is that possible for all my heros later in the game. A. As Far as i seen and heard there is no item to make you 100 in a turn. I think its that monsters exclusive move. Q 08. I have a problem. There's something wrong with my zooming ability. Im now really far into the game but in your guide you mention some places i don't have on it. Help A. It could very well be that you havn't visited that place yet. Like Neos, you can completely not know about it and not have it listed. Once you actually visit there you'll have it on zoom list. «« 15.03 Quest question »» ---------------------------------------- Q 01. I enter the waterfall cave and get beaten bad. This game is hard. Tired and true for all RPGs. 02 - Your bag doesn't have a limit in holding space. Keep collecting items! 03 - You can hold more then 1 ygdrassil leaf. If ones in alchemy pot then you can hold a second on a char. or in the bag. (info from Roido) 04 - At the begining of every boss fight, call in your monster team(s) before anything else. (Tip by DinobotXL) 05 - How to beat the casino at Baccarat (Tip by wtknight07) Staying with the tradition of the Dragon Warrior series, the falcon swords remain something that you can get only at the casino. The 10,000 credit price tag per sword is typical and necessary for those on the Great Metal Hunt and for the quad attack for the Hero (I named mine Erdrick) and Angelo. Since you start with 600 credits, you have all the creds you need to work the casino for everthing you need. First, you'll need to save the game just outside the casino. Then hit the roulette wheel. On the right side of the table, you'll see three arrows showing where to place a line bet. Choose one and dump 500 creds on one line. At 3 to 1 odds, you have a 33% of being right, and thus winning 1000 creds in addition to the 500 you put down. Exit the game and save at the church. Repeat until you have the sufficient number of creds for the equipment you wish to buy. I did it for an additional 2000 creds so I'd have seed money for the next time I need something. If at any time you don't guess the right line, either reset the game and try again OR try placing another bet with another 500 creds. If you win this time, you will only gain 500 creds instead of 1000, but you will still have gained. You can also dump 500 on two lines to increase your probability to 66%, but you'd only make 500 at a time. If you guess correctly every time, you will only do this 200 times to get the Grisham Whip. 200 TIMES?! Yeah, it may seem like a lot, but it's a lot faster than if you relied solely on Lady Luck to help you. To date, I've only done it enough to get two falcon swords, two Metal Babble armors (for those of you who remember that's what they were originally called back in the day!), and several Saint's Ashes. 06 - (Tip by Ddevlinb) When you fly to the area just north of Rydon's Tower (where all of the Metal Slime are located) there is an item called the Conquerer's Axe hidden in that area. It refers to it as the strongest axe in the world. To find it just land on top of the plateau, then cross the bridge and follow the tunnel down to the lower area. Find the next tunnel and so on until you find a treasure chest with the Conquerer's Axe. I've also encountered groups of 3 King Metal Slime (30,000 exp. each) and various other groups of metal slime hanging out in this area. It's the best area in the whole game for leveling up quickly, especially at night. 07 - (Tip by cowboy_outlaw1985) Troll's Maze: It took me a long time to find, but it does have a few good items in it: a mini medal, and the Hell Sabre(for Angelo). The entrance to the dungeon is on the upper floor of the Chancelor's house in Argonia. You must press X facing the mirror at night to initiate the dungeon. Not only will you get these few items, but you will also save the lives of the Chancelor and his family. €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ ««« 17. You need the Bunny Suit (Silk bustier + Bunny tail, or trade in medals), the Bunny Ears (Hairband + Bunny tail) and the Fishnet stockings.
