Since there are a few parts that can be tricky, I hope that this guide can help you to understand where certain items are, or how to get past some of the more challenging sections. This is my second FAQ attempt, so it won't be flashy or very long. Just something for you to quickly look over and to hopefully find a solution to whatever problem that you have on the game. Thank you for reading this, and I hope you enjoy the game. Intro from the booklet- "Ashly J. Williams never believed in true evil...Until that night at the cabin in the woods. That's where he and his friends found the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, the Book of the Dead. The book awakened a dark, infectious evil. It got into Ash's hand and turned it against him, so he cut it off. It got to the others, too, twisting them into something less than human, forcing Ash to butcher them to survive. Unable to provide a believable explanation for the killings, Ash has since been confined at Sunny Meadows Asylum for the criminally insane under the watchful eyes of the fiendish Dr. Vladimir Reinhard. But his luck begins to change when Sally, his determined lawyer, finds evidence in Dr. Reinhard's office that proves Ash is not insane. Meanwhile Dr. Reinhard is conducting secret experiments on Sam, one of the Asylum's inmates, to infuse him with the power of the book while keeping his soul intact. Confident with his success, Reinhard performs the experiment on himself. However, things go awry and the evil overtakes Reinhard, the inmates of the Asylum, and the very building itself. And it won't stop there. Now Dr. Reinhard has vanished, along with the Necronomicon - and Sally. All that stands between the unsuspecting world and unimaginable evil are Ash, with his trusty chainsaw and shotgun, and Sam, a half-sized, half-Deadite hell bent on revenge. Together they set out to rescue Sally and to close the book on the Evil Dead once and for all." Section II: Controls Left Analog Stick- Move Ash or Sam in the desired direction. Ash will perform a variety of finishing moves automatically, depending on the type or position of the enemy he is attacking. Section IV: Weapons/Items Firearms- .45 Automatic Ash obtains a semi-automatic pistol from a fallen Sunny Meadows security guard. It has a high rate of fire and good range, but Deadites can survive a lot of hits from this gun. Sawed-Off 12 Guage (Boomstick) Ash's trusty sawed-off 12 gauge double-barreled shotgun packs a powerful punch, but loses accuracy with increased range, and has a longer reload time than the pistol. Bomb-Lance A relic of the golden days of whaling, the Bomb-Lance fires an explosive lance with a timed fuse, which sticks into enemies and explodes. Although it has a long reload time, it will finish many enemies with one shot. It is also used to blast through damaged walls or objects. Prosthetic- Chainsaw A custom prosthetic fitting keeps this sturdy chainsaw firmly attached to Ash's right arm. The chainsaw is ideal for close- quarters Deadite slaying, as well as smashing crates and wooden obstacles. Harpoon Gun Fires a spike attached to a long cable which impales and reels in enemies for Ash to launch off, or to shoot with a left hand weapon. Flamethrower This weapon emits a stream of fire at enemies - or Sam. Ash moves slowly while using this weapon and must use it sparingly as it will overheat with continued use. Items- Life essence Dropped by defeated enemies and certain objects in the environment, Life essence refills a portion of Ash's health. Life essence automatically seeks Ash when he is nearby. Evil essence Also dropped by defeated enemies and objects in the environment, Evil essence feeds Ash's inner Evil. Like Life essence, Evil essence automatically seeks Ash when he is nearby. Life bar upgrade platform To increase Ash's life bar capacity as well as fill it, locate and activate the red sacred symbols placed in the worlds. Inner evil bar upgrade platform To increase Ash's Inner Evil capacity, locate and activate the orange sacred symbols placed in the worlds. Sam possession platform To take possession of Sam, locate and activate the blue sacred symbols placed in the worlds. Save game platform To save game progress, locate and activate the greenish-yellow sacred symbols placed in the worlds. Necronomicon Pages To unlock bonus content, locate the lost pages of the Necronomicon hidden throughout the environment. Section V: Background of previous Evil Dead games Section VI: Level 1- Cabin Section VII: Level 2- Sunny Meadows Section VIII: Level 3- The Cemetery Section IX: Level 4- The catacombs Section X: Level 5- The Woods Section XI: Level 6- Forsaken Mines Section XII: Level 7- The Shipyard Section XIII: Level 8- Swamp Section XIV: Level 9- Port Turnham Section XV: Level 10- The Temple Section XVI: Necronomicon Page Locations I'll have these listed in each level section, but if you are just wondering where they are separately, then you can look here. Necronomicon Pages 01-03 Sunny Meadows Necronomicon Pages 04-05 The Cemetery Necronomicon Pages 06-07 The Catacombs Necronomicon Pages 08-09 The Woods Necronomicon Pages 10-11 Forsaken Mines Necronomicon Pages 12-14 The Shipyard Necronomicon Pages 15-16 Swamp Necronomicon Pages 17-18 Port Turnham Necronomicon Pages 19-20 The Temple Sunny Meadows: Necronomicon Page 1- In the beginning of the level, you'll see a room with a glass window to it. The scroll is shown here, but you can't get to it yet. Take the hallway down to where a guard will lose his gun. Kill the Deadite and backtrack to the room where you started in. Shoot the glass and climb into the room. Necronomicon Page 2- In the room where all the furniture is attacking you, the bathroom on the left (when facing all three doors) has the scroll. It's the last stall on the left (also the biggest). Necronomicon Page 3- After you solve the puzzle in the Doctor's office, follow the stairs into the basement. The first room on your right has the page. It should also have two boxes inside. The Cemetery: Necronomicon Page 4- When you reach the first group of skeletons and the door is opened up from the spirit guard, there is an opening in the fence to the left. Go through the opening and turn left. Follow the creek to the page. Necronomicon Page 5- As you walk along, you'll hear some loud noises and Ash will say "What the Hell?" There should be a blocked door with tree branches over it and a creek to the left. Follow the short creek to number five. The Catacombs: Necronomicon Page 6- When you possess Sam, take the path that leads to a stream of water. You'll die here, but just make sure that you hit the page before you get killed. Necronomicon Page 7- After you use Sam to open another gate, jump back to the area that is blocked off with 2X4's. As soon as you enter this room, the page is at your right. It's right before the second boss. The Woods: Necronomicon Page 8- Once you get the harpoon, backtrack to the house on the hill. Near the bridge that you couldn't activate earlier. The house has a barrel with a toobox sitting on top of it close by. Necronomicon Page 9- After you use Sam to push the boulder out of the way, follow the path over the bridge. You'll have to climb up on a few boxes to reach the roof of the building, then you'll be able to see the bridge that needs to come down. At the end of the path, you'll see a spot to jump down. You should also see a single cart on a small track. Move the cart, and the page will show up. Forsaken Mines: Necronomicon Page 10- On your right, as soon as the mine level begins is a single cart. Move it with your harpoon and the page is yours. Necronomicon Page 11- In the mine with the Methane, once you reach the soul egg, to the left is the eleventh page. You can also get this while you are using Sam, to activate the fan. The Shipyard: Necronomicon Page 12- After you open the boat with the Boom-Lance, the series of fat exploding creatures is next. The two trailers that open with one creature in each one (on the sides) will be the end of the creatures. Facing the other trailers, it's on the left hand side. Go inside the trailer to see it. Necronomicon Page 13- In the third soul egg location, after you clear the room of creatures, climb the boxes and head outside. Before going towards the soul egg, examine the side of the house for the page. There is a walkway to the side of the house. Necronomicon Page 14- In the second soul egg area, before you fight the big creature, the page is on the side. It's between two trailers that are pulled by trucks/rigs. Swamp: Necronomicon Page 15- When you take control of Sam and ride the large creature around like a horse, make sure you run over the first pile of garbage in the water to your left. The page is hidden here. Necronomicon Page 16- Once you get to the room with the wheel that opens one door and closes the other, you'll see several doors that can be opened with the Boom-Lance. It is near the right side, around the corner. You can see it from the first room, through a pipe. Port Turnham: Necronomicon Page 17- After you fight the Deadites on the roof, in an alleyway on the right hand side is a box. Destroy the box for the page. Necronomicon Page 18- Behind the house with the third soul egg is the page. This is the house that Sam has to unlock the door on. The Temple: Necronomicon Page 19- As soon as the level starts, go to Ash's right and follow the path to the page. Necronomicon Page 20- After the arena fighting, take the stairs up but don't leave the arena. Walk around the outer rim walkway of the arena and on the opposite side of where you started from the page will be there. Section XVII: Health/Rage Locations Not every level has one of these, but I'll just list each location. Cabin: NONE Sunny Meadows: NONE The Cemetery: 1 Health The Catacombs: 1 Health The Woods: 1 Rage Forsaken Mines: 1 Health, 1 Rage The Shipyard: 1 Rage Swamp: 1 Health Port Turnham: 1 Rage The Temple: NONE The Cemetery- After you clear the area with the Deadites on the ground and the two on the roof, you should see a door that is blocked with some tree branches. To the right of that doorway is a path that leads to the cave that Sam was in for the large creature mini-level riding part. Cut open the branches and activate the platform by standing on it. The Catacombs- After the part where Sam opens the gate (when you control him), go to this spot and follow the path. To your left should be some stairs going down to a larger room (don't go here yet, or you won't be able to get the health increase). To your right should be the health platform. The Woods- Once you get the harpoon, one of the bridges near the mining camp looking town has a rage platform. Forsaken Mines- Right after your first save point, you'll see a path blocked with 2X4's on your right. A single cart will be seen to your left, and once you move this cart with your harpoon a health platform will appear. In the large room where Peepers is located at, the track running from left to right (when facing Peepers) that is high in the air has the rage platform at its end (the right side). Smash the box to see it. The Shipyard- After you leave the boat and fight the large creature, you'll see a ladder by the side farthest away from where the creature was. To the right is a trailer that can be shot at so a hole is made. Go inside the trailer and head to the left side and open it. Follow the path and destroy the boxes for the rage platform. Swamp- In the area with all the doors that can be blown open with the Boom-Lance, climb the ladder and hop across the broken bridge to a spot with some boxes. Break the boxes to uncover the health platform. Port Turnham- After you use Sam to ride the large creature and explode the gas tank, and after you kill the creatures that look like the one from the swamp pit in Army of Darkness, you'll see a section of road covered with water and has electricity running through it. To the right is an alleyway and a ladder to climb to the roof of the building. The roof has the rage platform on it. Section XVIII: Final Thoughts This game was fun to play, even though it is very short. My first time playing it was only about six hours long. My second time was faster, being a little under five hours. But I can honestly say that if you enjoy the Evil Dead movies and video games, that this will be a title that you'll play over and over again.
