And checked the whole thing for spelling mistakes. Not bad for someone that doesn’t like games! 006- About "The Sims" --------------------- Publisher: EA Developer: Maxis Official website: www.thesims.ea.com Players: 1/2 Memory: config- 288KB "Get a life" mode- 1303KB "Play The Sims" mode- 1303KB Analog sticks only Vibration function compatible Rating: 15+ (Sexual references) The best selling PC game makes the jump to console at last. In the Playstation version there is now levels, as well as the free game like the PC. There is also a two-player option you can work cooperatively in a open game or against each other in a variety of fun mini games. Some new items have been added that aren't in the original PC game, which gives the feeling of more to do. 007- "My Review" ---------------- Graphics- 8/10 Not the best graphics ever to grace the PS2 but it gets the job done in a clear way. But the graphics don't matter in a game like this, so don't be put off! Gameplay- 9/10 BRILLIANT. If you like this type of game then you will love the Sims everything is perfect. The only time it does get frustrating is when you keep running out of time to do things before it is time for work again. Other than that it is superb, there’s loads of little details like being able to see things such as paintings take shape and selling them for a price that rises with your skill level. You will either love it or hate it! Sounds- 5/10 They still don't talk in English but sometimes you can just about make out what they are trying to say. At first their language is amusing but soon gets repetitive, so sling on some music when playing. Lifespan- 10/10 The "Get a life" levels don't last very long, but the open-ended gameplay will last you a lifetime, well a long time anyway! You can't finish it so it will be over when you get bored and if you like the game to start off with then it is hard to get bored with it. Originality- 4/10 The level based game-play gives it a bit of originality but other than that there is none. But who needs it when it is a game that works so well? It is still addictive. This is not an issue with the game that is this good. Overall- 9/10 Very fun and will keep you inside for days. Maybe it could do with a few more items than it has but that doesn’t bother you when playing that much! Rent or Buy? - Buy Just look at the lifespan!! Maybe rent if you have never played it. 008- Controls -------------- Select action x Cancel action Triangle Follow Sim Square Move Cursor Left analog stick Edit/cancel action Select Change Sim L2/R2 Zoom/Rotate Right analog stick Change speed of time R1 pause L1 Change wall view o Career panel Left on D-pad Relationship panel Right on D-pad Motives panel Up on D-pad Personality panel Down on D-pad Menu buy/build Start 009- Cheats ------------ To activate the cheat mode press L1+R1+L2+R2 at the main menu. Keep them in school- Just make sure they are in a good mood before they go and make sure there grades don't drop too much. 6. Finish house in eight days- now this is very hard! The best way to do it is when you have time on the levels before get the points that you need up. Make sure the friends you have are yours not your partners. The When you go onto this level you don't have to worry about getting them. When the baby is born put it in the bedroom so they wake up when he cries and make sure you care for it well. When it is grown up make sure it stays in school by keeping it happy but also keep their school grade around A/B's. This may work, I don't know I didn't manage to finish it in time. Unlockable: 1. Just get them to study before they go to school and when they are grade a/a+ they will go. Make sure you have $1,200 each though or you will lose some items. 3. Save $20,000 to buy a yacht for early retirement- you shouldn't find this very hard with level 10 jobs- it will take about 20 days though. 4. Throw a GREAT party before you retire- This is hard. Get loads of people round a table eating get some in the swimming pool and then get them all to talking to each other. 5. Finish the house in eight days or less- It makes it easier if you already have the friends and the points needed to get promoted. Get them in the spare time in the other levels. Make sure the kids have at least an B going into the level and make them study straight away. When they go to school they have to have at least an A- And it will cost you $1,500 per child to send them to Prep school. (Make sure you have this or they will take some of your items) When building this house if you don't have much money it is fine to sell the rug and the bearskin to get money. Don't spend too much money though because you need to save up $20,000 for a yacht to retire. When you get promoted throw a party (See no.4). Unlockable: 1. Send children to prep school with straight A's- Monkey Butler 2. Get promoted to level 10- The Park (two player game) 3. When you get your Sim to look for a job make sure their mood has at least one green or they will refuse to look. Another thing that helps is to make sure you have a few points in each category (cooking, mechanical, logic, creativity and body) before you apply, then you will get promoted quicker and earn more money. There are ten levels in each job, each needing more points then the last level to get there. The five different types of jobs are: Military, Slacker, Criminal, Musician , Entertainment and Extreme. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Tip: If you are finding it hard to get the points/ friends needed to get promoted then you can take every other day off. When you have enough money buy: A food Processor- this will cut the coking time right down and as there aren't enough hours in the day anyway this is a great help. The best fridge- This provides 8 hunger and with all the other things that you will have your Sim will get full after just one helping. It is expenive though-$2,000 The best cooker- This will make your meals great and you won't need two. Make sure that you have at least three cooking before you buy it though or you could just have a dead Sim.(you can get away with two cooking points but you still occasionally get a fire) Hygiene- Take a shower or a bath to fix this. Note: if you wet yourself this will go right down. When you can afford it and when you've unlocked the sonic shower (Get promoted to level 6- Hot to Trot) Buy this because it fills the hygine meter and allot of the comfort. It also takes little time ompared to the bath that gives the same comfort and hygine even if it costs more. Note: If in the shower options it says "clean" then do it before you use it or it won't work. Energy- the best way is to sleep in a bed but you can take a nap on a sofa. For a quick fix you can drink an espresso. When you can afford it and when you have ulocked it buy the The Vibromatic Heart Bed (Increase house value from $46,050 to $48,050-Hot to Trot) this bed is not only the best bed for energy and comfort it also comes with: Vibrate- They lie down and enjoy Relax- Just relax in it And Play in bed- Get one of them to vibrate and then with the other click on the other bed on select "play in bed" and they will go under the covers and do their stuff. This will bring Fun and social up but energy down. Also both of the Sims need to be in a good mood before they do it. Social- Ring someone to talk to him or her or anyone that you live with. The best way to get this up is to talk to the person tha you live with but if you don't live with anyone then ring someone it just won't do it as quickally. most of the time it is best to live with someone then this meter won't be hard to fill. Comfort- Loads of things sort out this problem such as: sleeping, sitting, some showers give them comfort aswell. For this I would have: -The sonic shower (Get promoted to level 6- Hot to Trot) Buy this because it fills the hygine meter and allot of the comfort. -The The Vibromatic Heart Bed (Increase house value from $46,050 to $48,050-Hot to Trot) this bed is not only the best bed for energy and comfort it also comes with: Vibrate- They lie down and enjoy Relax- Just relax in it And Play in bed- What do you think it means? -And the "The Deiter" by Werkbunnst this gives 8 comfort, 5 energy and 3 room. It is the best sofa that you can get and is only $1,100 which is not that much for what it gives. Bladder- basically, go to the toilet. For this I wouldn't bother getting the best one just the cheap normal one will do just as well it just dosn't give any comfort which you don't need. Fun- this one will change from Sim to Sim playful Sims enjoy computers and VR goggles but serious Sims enjoy reading books. Again when you can afford it buy the "Meet Marco" computer as it gives 9 fun. If you can't afford this buy the SSRI Virtual Reality Set which gives 7 fun. Whatever you do buy don't buy anything that gives less then 4 fun or you will be there all day waiting for the meter to go up. This is what I have in my house: The best computer The goggles The widescreen TV I have all these to get there fun up and it gives them more to do. Room- have pictures in every room to keep it up plus have no rubbish around the house. The picture that I have found to be the best is Portrait Grid by Payne A. Pitcher which gives 8 room and it is only $3,200 this may seem a lot but it is worth it. Another thing is not to have tables outside because for some reason it brings their room right down when they go outside, this will make them in a worse mood for work and won't be able to get promoted as easy. 013 - Personality ------------------ Neat- if you have this then your Sim will make the bed, tidy up, wash there hands after going to the toilet all the time. I wouldn't have any neatness because they just waste time of which you don't have much. Outgoing- the more of these they have the easier they will find it to make friends. I would fill this to about half because you need this but don't waste too many points on it. The more you fill this the longer it will take to fill the social meter. Active- if you have it high then your Sim will enjoy getting sweaty and doing physical labour. I would again have this about half full for the same reason as above. The more you fill this the quicker it wil take to get body points but it dosn't make that much difference though. Playful- the more of these you have then the more your Sim will like playing on computers, etc. If you only have a couple of these then they will like reading books instead. I would put a bit more than half for this because it is easier to get their fun filled. Nice- they will make friends a lot easier the more of these you have and they won't be nasty to other Sims. I personally would fill it or at least have it very high. 014 - Career points -------------------- Cooking- Study using a bookcase have at least three of these or you could set yourself on fire. The more of these that you have the more the food you cook will fill you up. Mechanical- Study using a bookcase have at least three of these or you won't always be able to fix broken items. If you buy a workshop you can make gnomes and then decarate your garden or just sell them off. Creativity- To get this up you can: paint, use an artists block, Use a guitar or play the piano. You will only need these for your job. Also if you use a easel or an artists block you can sell your work off. The price that you get for your work rises with the more points that you have. Body- Use either a weight lifter or the treadmill. You don't need these other than for some careers. They also take an age to get. Charisma- just speak into any mirror. Only jobs need this. These also take an age to get and they are really anoying when they are getting them. Logic- You can get these in two ways: they are using a chess set or using the telescope. When using the telescope sometimes you can get taken into the stars, when this happpens just wait and your Sim will come back. 015 - Relationships -------------------- All careers friends. To get them ring someone and invite them round. When they ring if they say they won't come round or they don't like you just ring again straight away keep doing this and they should say yes. Their replies are totallyramdom so just keep trying. When they are round at your house at first just talk to them because the weirdo’s don't like being complimented at first. When they are your friend compliment them and joke with them. After you get to 80 and above flirt with them but wait till you love them and have 100 relationship before you try and kiss them or your relationship will drop rapidly. Talking to people is the only way to get your social up. To get your Sim to do the same thing twice in a row you: If you wanted to talk twice in a row first you pick talk, then you pick a different one and then talk again. After you have done this press 'select' and press 'X' on the one that you don't want and then there will be two in a row. (Do this lots of times and you will have one thing reapeted up to 7 times) 016 - Items ------------ Item Number Item Cost What it does for you \ \ \ \ / / / / 1. Museum- Borrow $800 from mum. (Money from mum) 2. Frat House- Move in with Dudley or Mimi. (Reality Bites) 3. Taylor's Place - Throw a raging party. (Party Animals) 4. Park- Greet and feed Bobo. (Who Loves Ya Baby) 7. Handyman's House- Get promoted to level eight. (Who Loves Ya Baby) 018.2 - What you do in each one - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Museum- In this game you have to squeeze more money out of the inspectors than the other player in 10:00 minutes. The best thing to do is to get the inspector to fall in love with you, then ask for the money otherwise they won't give it to you and not like you as much. Frat house- Be the first to make three friends in a party use your relationship building skills to do this. But it isn't that simple you can spared rumours abut the other player to people and if they believe them they will stay away from them. You have to be friends with them first though or they won't believe. Get three friends and you're off to the hot tub. Taylor's Place - How many people can you make fall in love with you in ten minutes? However many make sure that it is more then the other player. This one is similar to "Frat House" but you have to fall in love not just make friends and there is no rumour spreading. Shame. Be careful though a person won't fall in love with both players at the same time. Club Abih- How many people can you make fall in love with you in ten minutes? However many, make sure that it is more then the other player. This one is similar to "Frat House" but you have to fall in love not just make friends and there is no rumour spreading. Shame. Be careful though a person won't fall in love with both players at the same time. The Maid's House- Tidy up the maid's house the side that is cleanest when the maid get there wins a heart and if you keep her kid happy she might give you some more. However there is a catch every-so-often a "messy neighbour" will come along and mess the place up a bit. Just keep the place as tidy as you can and as long as it is tidier then the other players half then you get the heart. The Handyman's House- Tidy up the handyman's house the side that is cleanest when the handyman get there wins a heart and if you keep his kid happy he might give you some more. However there is a catch every-so-often a "messy neighbour" will come along and mess the place up a bit. Just keep the place as tidy as you can and as long as it is tidier then the other players half then you get the heart. The Park- In this one you need to fill yorself up on food. There are three ways to get this food they are: Grill your own- but when you do this eveyone cones and nicks it and you don't have much for yourself. Beg for food- you have to get a good relasinship to do this or they will refuse to give it to you. Steal food- you can go up to any one and steal it but be carfull because sometimes they turn around and steal it off you. They get a bit boring after a while especially as Taylor's Place and Club Abih are the same. And The Maid's House and The Handyman's House are the same! 019 - House Building --------------------- This is the thing that your Sim will live in so it needs to be good. 019.1 Hints and Tips - - - - - - - - - - Sims like big houses with lots of windows, your Sims are thick so they need everything placed so they can get at them real easy. ~ It is best not to make your house too big because it is surprising how much time is taken moving around a big house. (However good it looks) ~ When Building make sure every room is easily accessible other wise your Sim will be in a very bad mood if they can't get to something. ~ When building a house remember how many it is for. The best no. that I find is: 1 Sim: 1 Bedroom 1 Bathroom 1 kitchen 1 Living area 1 Study (Exerciser, bookcase etc) 2 Sims: 1 Bedroom 1 Bathroom 1 kitchen 1 Living area 1 Study (Exerciser, bookcase etc) 1 Dining room 3 Sims: 2 Bedrooms 2 Bathrooms 1 Kitchen 1 Living area 2 Study (Exerciser, bookcase etc) 1 Dining room 1 Outside area 4 Sims: 3 Bedrooms 2 Bathrooms 1 Big kitchen 1 small kitchen 1 Big living area 2 Study (Exerciser, bookcase etc) 1 Dining room 1 Outside area 019.2 - Dos and Don'ts - - - - - - - - - - - - Do: Have lots of windows Have big rooms Have a lot of items Don't: Have dead plants outside Have too much rubbish on the floor Have too many rooms. Have rooms inside rooms: ----------------------- Key | | | | ---- Horizontal Wall | | | | |---------------------- | | | | | | | | x | | | Vertical Wall | | | | | |-------| | X the room you shouldn't have | | | | ----------------------- X: You shouldn't have this room because it is totally surrounded by other rooms so no natural light can get in and your Sim won't like this. Their room meter will be constantly down. 019.3 - My perfect houses - - - - - - - - - - - - - :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have any more then E-mail them to me and I will put them in (of course any thing that you do send in the credit will go 100% to you.) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Note: These are only the basics of the house so they still are good if you add to them. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 1. Plain corridor |-------|-|--------| Key | Ba | | Ki | ----- | | | | Ba= Bathroom |-------| |--------| Be1= Bedroom one | Be1 | | St | Li= Living room | |C| | Ki= Kitchen |-------| |--------| St= Study | | | | Be2= Bedroom two | Li | | Be2 | C= Corridor | | | | |-------|-|--------| This design is really basic but it is good because every room is easy to get to. If you don't have enough room with this you can add to it like this: |-------|-|--------|-|------| | | | | | | | | | | | | |-------| |--------|-|------| | | | | | | | | | | | | |-------| |--------| |------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-------|-|--------|-|------| 2. Like a Donut! This house is for the rich Sim only. It cost me nealy $90,000. |----------|----------| | Be | Ba | | | | Key |----|-----|----|-----| ----- | | Swimming | | Ba= Bathroom | | pool | | Li= Livng room | Li | | St | St= Study | | | | Be= Bedroom |----|-----|----|-----| Ki= Kitchen | | | Di= Dining room | Ki | Di | |----------|----------| I know befor i said don't put rooms in rooms but this one works because it is a swimming pool in the middle and they don't go in there much plus it makes the house look cool. The only thing that you have to watch out for when making this house is the furnish meter. To make mine I did: Put a swimming pool in the middle Then built a wall two squares away from the edge of the pool all the way around the pool. After that I put another wall around the wall I just built but this time it was five away all the way around. Split it into rooms And furnished it. 3. Letters Stupid as it may seem you can make a house in the shape of loads of letters! I did one in a 'J' for Josh (my name) |-----|----------| | Ba | Li | Key | | | ----- |-----|----|-----| Ba= Bathroom | | Li= living room | Ki | Ki= Kitchen | | Di/St= Dining room and/or a study | | |-----|----| | Di/St | | | |----------| You can do it with nearly any letter and when you've finished it looks brill. |----| |----| | Ki | | | Key | | |St | ----- |----| | | Ki= Kitchen | | |----| Li= Living room | Li |-----| | Be= Bedroom | | |Ba | Ba= Bathroom | | Be | | St= study |---------------| The following design was sent in by: Ethan Chriss ffffffffffffffffffffff !--------------------!f ! !f ! You can even RAISE your energy level while rasing your Comfort level, Hygiene Level, Fun Level, and Social Level up. All you need is the AROMA MACHINE. You set it on Juniper and Rosemary and your ENERGY level rises when yu have that on and your in a room. What I do is 2 things. I can get full Comfort and ENERGY level to MAX if I do the following. Turn on the AROMA Machine to Juniper & Rosemary, Lit a Fire, and Fall A Sleep on the Vibro-a-matic Love bed. You should get Full Energy in a matter of 1 hour, 2 hour tops. OR you can put a An AROMA MACHINE in any room and put the Juniper and Rosemary scent on, then get into a HOT TUB, and talk socialize with someone to get your ENERGY, COMFORT, FUN, HYGEINE, & SOCIAL LEVEL UP at the same time. Basically put AROMA machines in every room (even outside) and set it to Juniper and Rosemary and watch your ENERGY LEVEL rise to even MAX. Thanks to Mike Alvia for this tip. You have a plasma tv a pair of VR goggles and the best computer i found all of these a good source of fun, but........... i found the pool table the best source of fun, aaahhhhhh but its rate of fun is only 7 you say............. stick the best stereo next to it(fun rating 5)i think it combines its fun with the pool tables(when on) and i noticed the fun level goes up a lot faster than any of the other gadgets on there own, i dont know whether you can do the same type of thing with any of the other items you can buy but this seems to work for me. Just try it! Thanks to Craig Dunne for this tip. It's quite simple to beat Get a Life and the bonuses as well. Your mom can work on making gnomes. She won't study mechanical but she'll make gnomes. And for some reason, her Hygiene, Comfort, and Social levels don't fall. Now you can get all the career points at home! If you want the guitar, just beat the first level under 24, and then save onto your neighborhood. With all the career points maxed, you can beat Get a Life in the time limits, and get those nice bonuses. Many people don't believe that she could make gnomes because she refuses to study mech or cooking, but she'll do the activities that build up the career points and have something else involved with them. Thanks to Scot M. for this tip. 021 - Where it can be found --------------------------- My guide can be found at: http://www.gamefaqs.com http://www.cheatcc.com http://www.neoseeker.com http://omacsgames.cjb.net/ 022 - Thanks ------------- To me and Laura for writting it we had no help.
